The method may include: spreading the logs; aligning the spread logs to be flush at one end; conveying the spread and flush logs laterally; conveying the logs longitudinally through an irradiation field formed by accelerators to provide treatment of irradiation with the electron beams; throwing the irradiated logs out; and laterally conveying the logs away. The device may include a conveying device for conveying the logs, a shielding structure surrounding the conveying device, and accelerators provided in the conveying path of the conveying device. The method includes: in each time slot, in time dimension, putting each 4 OFDM symbols into a group according to the order of the OFDM symbols; in each group of OFDM symbols, in frequency dimension, selecting, for each OFDM symbol, a plurality of valid sub-carriers to transmit scattered pilots, wherein for a same OFDM symbol, between each 2 valid sub-carriers selected, there are 7 valid sub-carriers; for different OFDM symbols in a same group, the valid sub-carriers selected are interleaving in frequency domain; and transmitting scattered pilot signals on the valid sub-carriers selected. The solution helps the multi-carrier system to handle multi-path channel with large delay spread, to obtain more accurate channel estimation and to achieve better receiving performance.12-25-2008

The method comprises the steps of reconstructing a representation of the image frame, classifying at least one block boundary as to be either high-freq or low-freq and filtering pixels of the at least one block boundary in dependency on the classification and outputting the filtered representation. Film grain noise and/or random texture are more likely to produce high-freq boundaries. 20110058608Method and apparatus for image encoding using hold-MBs, and method and apparatus for image decoding using hold-MBs - In video/image coding, macroblocks (MBs) are often intra coded in raster scan order, starting from one seed MB. The invention improves intra prediction for optimized usage of multi-core processors. Encoding starts from multiple intra coded seed MBs per frame, and continues with adjacent MBs. A predefined prediction spread pattern (growth pattern) is used that comprises simultaneous prediction of two or more adjacent MBs per MB. Adjacent MBs with high coding cost are called “Hold-MB” and can be held from being processed, until another neighbouring edge is available for prediction. Encoding comprises marking a MB with high coding cost for deferred prediction. This MB is skipped while the other MBs are encoded. When a further adjacent MB was encoded, the marked MB is predicted based on the adjacent MBs. Since a decoder receives the deferment marks and uses the same growth pattern, it follows the encoder, and predicts and decodes correctly.03-10-2011
