20100250757REDIRECTION OF A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION - A method is provided in one example embodiment and includes identifying a first data center configured to receive a request initiated by an end user. The method also includes detecting a presence of a wide area application service (WAAS) and identifying a second data center. The method further includes signaling, in response to the presence of the WAAS, to redirect data packets associated with the request to the second data center. In more specific embodiments, the signaling includes adding a TCP option to packets of a session associated with the end user to inform components of redirecting capabilities of a WAAS element. The detecting can include recognizing a transmission control protocol (TCP) option in detecting the presence of the WAAS. The TCP option can be used to identify capabilities of a WAAS element that is involved in servicing the request of the end user.09-30-2010

20090043263RETRACTABLE HYPODERMIC SYRINGE - A hypodermic syringe includes a barrel with a plunger slidably extending therein. The barrel may include a barrel adapter at one end to define a luer hub socket and the outer walls of slots in the barrel. The plunger includes an outer plunger element and an inner plunger element telescoping together with a bungee resisting extension of the assembly. The inner and outer plunger elements may be locked in the extended position with the bungee in tension. A seal stop is located at the seal end of the plunger to define an annular pinch therewith to hold an annular seal in radial extension sealing against the internal sidewall of the barrel. A luer hub is fixed at the needle end of the barrel, A plunger cap may be advanced after injection to rotate the plunger. A resistance lock retains the cap and plunger indexed until actuation. The rotation actuates latches and locking fingers on the luer hub to engage a probe axially and rotationally on the seal end of the plunger and disengage the slots in the barrel, respectively. The rotation disengages the seal stop to release the annular seal and finally releases the engagement between the outer plunger element and inner plunger element. The foregoing provides for the retraction of the luer hub and associated needle into the barrel.02-12-2009

20110008825System for Conducting the Identification of Bacteria in Urine - A system for conducting the identification and quantification of micro-organisms, e.g., bacteria in urine samples which includes: 1) several disposable cartridges for holding four disposable components including a centrifuge tube, a pipette tip having a 1 ml volume, a second pipette tip having a 0.5 ml volume, and an optical cup or cuvette; 2) a sample processor for receiving the disposable cartridges and processing the urine samples including transferring the processed urine sample to the optical cups; and 3) an optical analyzer for receiving the disposable cartridges and configured to analyze the type and quantity of micro-organisms in the urine sample. The disposable cartridges with their components including the optical cups or cuvettes are used in the sample processor, and the optical cups or cuvettes containing the processed urine samples are used in the optical analyzer for identifying and quantifying the type of micro-organism existing in the processed urine samples.01-13-2011
