20110072784SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR REGENERATING A PARTICULATE FILTER - A system for filtering and oxidizing particulate matter produced by a gasoline direct injection engine is disclosed. In one embodiment, engine cylinder air-fuel is adjusted to allow soot to oxidize at an upstream particulate filter while exhaust gases are efficiently processed in a downstream catalyst.03-31-2011
20110072787FUEL CONTROL FOR SPARK IGNITED ENGINE HAVING A PARTICULATE FILTER SYSTEM - A system for filtering and oxidizing particulate matter produced by a gasoline direct injection engine is disclosed. In one embodiment, engine cylinder air-fuel is adjusted to allow soot to oxidize at an upstream particulate filter while exhaust gases are efficiently processed in a downstream catalyst.03-31-2011
20110073088METHOD FOR CONTROLLING FUEL OF A SPARK IGNITED ENGINE WHILE REGENERATING A PARTICULATE FILTER - A system for filtering and oxidizing particulate matter produced by a gasoline direct injection engine is disclosed. In one embodiment, engine cylinder air-fuel is adjusted to allow soot to oxidize at an upstream particulate filter while exhaust gases are efficiently processed in a downstream catalyst.03-31-2011
20110132342FUEL ALCOHOL CONTENT DETECTION VIA AN EXHAUST GAS SENSOR - Various systems and methods are described for an exhaust gas sensor coupled to an exhaust system of an engine. One example method comprises, during selected engine fueling conditions, alternating between applying different voltages to the sensor; and identifying an amount of alcohol in fuel injected to the engine based on sensor outputs at the different voltages.06-09-2011

20100050605METHODS FOR REDUCING ENGINE EXHAUST EMISSIONS - A method for controlling an internal combustion engine wherein, during an initial, relatively low temperature operating phase of the engine, the engine operates with a modulated air/fuel ratio established independently of the operating condition of the engine and wherein, during a subsequent higher temperature operating phase of the engine, the air/fuel ratio is modulated in as a function of the operating conditions of the engine.03-04-2010

20110024390Apparatus and process for removing oxidation scale from metal - The invention provides an improved apparatus and method for removing oxidized and embedded scale from sheet metal by high pressure spraying a diluted hydrochloric acid water mixture onto the surface of the sheet metal. The contaminated water/acid solution is then re-circulated to remove ferrous chloride from the acid and water solution. The cleansed acid and water solution are recycled for reuse. The sheet metal is rinsed with hot water, dried, oiled and rolled. The rinse water is re-circulated to remove acid droplets and the acid droplets are recycled to an acid storage tank. Any contaminants removed from the rinse water are recycled to a combination filter and reverse osmosis system. The clean rinse water is reused to rinse further sheet metal.02-03-2011

20080280726HYBRID POWERTRAIN WITH AN ENGINE INPUT CLUTCH AND METHOD OF CONTROL - A powertrain is provided with an input clutch that is disengagable to allow a transmission input member to rotate independently of engine speed under power of a motor and provide an alternative way to power vehicle accessories otherwise driven by engine torque, while still allowing the motor to start the engine. A powertrain having a parallel combination of input clutches including a friction input clutch and a selectable one-way clutch is provided, as well as a method of control of such a powertrain. Another method of controlling a hybrid vehicle powertrain includes starting the engine via torque from a motor with the input clutch biased in an engaged position. If vehicle operating conditions are more efficiently met without operating the engine, the input clutch is disengaged to so that torque is provided only by the motor to the output member and to vehicle accessories operatively connected to the input member.11-13-2008
20090118917METHOD AND APPARATUS TO CONTROL LAUNCH OF A VEHICLE HAVING AN ELECTRO-MECHANICAL TRANSMISSION - A method and apparatus to control an electro-mechanical transmission is provided, selectively operative in a plurality of fixed gear modes and continuously variable modes, and comprising first and second electrical machines and hydraulically-actuated clutches. Included is launching a vehicle so equipped, comprising operating the electro-mechanical transmission in a continuously variable mode to transmit motive torque from the first electrical machine to the driveline, and, selectively increasing an operating speed of the engine and selectively actuating a second clutch to transmit motive torque generated by the second electrical machine when an operator torque request exceeds a predetermined threshold.05-07-2009
20110024210HYBRID POWERTRAIN WITH AN ENGINE INPUT CLUTCH AND METHOD OF CONTROL - A powertrain is provided with a first input clutch and a second input clutch, each of which is selectively engageable to connect an engine with a transmission input member. Selective engagement of the first input clutch permits a motor to power the engine to start the engine. Selective engagement of the second input clutch permits the engine to power the transmission for propulsion.02-03-2011

20080300358Continuous Process For Production Of Silicone Pressure Sensitive Adhesives - A composition for preparing a pressure sensitive adhesive contains (A) a hydroxyl-functional polydiorganosiloxane polymer, (B) a hydroxyl-functional polyorganosiloxane resin, and (C) a solvent. A continuous method for producing the silicone pressure sensitive adhesive is performed by mixing the composition while heating the composition at a temperature above the vaporization point of the solvent and removing essentially all volatile species in an apparatus with a residence time sufficient for bodying ingredients (A) and (B). A devolatilizing twin-screw extruder is useful in the method.12-04-2008
