20090082047AUTO-DISCOVERY IN A SWITCH - A wireless communication system comprises a hub; a plurality of radio access nodes, wherein each of the plurality of radio access nodes is coupled to the hub via a respective communication link. The hub comprises a plurality of forward devices that produce digitized versions of downstream analog radio frequency signals received from a plurality service provider interfaces; a plurality of reverse devices that produce reconstructed versions of upstream analog radio frequency signals for transmission to the plurality of service provider interfaces based on digitized version of the upstream analog radio frequency signals received from the plurality of radio access nodes; a plurality of transport interfaces to couple the hub to the plurality of communication links; and a switch having a plurality of ports communicatively coupled to the hub forward devices, the hub reverse devices, and the transport interfaces, wherein the switch selectively routes the digitized versions of the downstream analog radio frequency signals and the digitized versions of the upstream analog radio frequency signals among the plurality of ports. The plurality of ports comprises a plurality of input ports and plurality of output ports; wherein the switch listens for a device identifier on at least one of the plurality of input ports to determine if a device is communicatively coupled to the at least one of the plurality of input ports. The switch transmits a port identifier over at least one of the plurality of output ports and, thereafter, searches a shared data structure to determine if a device is communicatively coupled to the at least one of the plurality of output ports.03-26-2009

20080219210RECONFIGURABLE MOBILE MODE AND FIXED NETWORK MODE ENDPOINT METERS - A meter data collection system in which endpoint meters are reconfigurable to operate in either a mobile mode or a fixed network mode is disclosed herein. While operating in the mobile mode, the endpoint meters transmit their meter data to a mobile device such as a “walk by” or “drive by” data collection device. While operating in the fixed network mode, the endpoint meters communicate with each other and with a central node to form a fixed wireless network. The endpoint meters may include a transceiver that enables the endpoint meters to transmit and receive data to and from the mobile device or other nodes in the fixed wireless network. The endpoint meters can be quickly and easily transitioned from operation in the mobile mode to operation in the fixed network mode (or vice versa) without changes to the endpoint meter hardware and without substantial re-configuration of the endpoint meters.09-11-2008
20090153356System and method for collecting information from utility meters - A method of communicating between a collector meter and back haul device is disclosed. The method provides the collector meter, the collector meter has a local communications means for communicating to a plurality of utility metering devices, the collector meter also has having a short haul communications means. The method further provides the back haul device. The back haul device having the short haul communication means and a wireless telephonic communication means. The method communicates information between the collector meter and the back haul device using the short haul communication means. The method further sends data from the back haul device to a utility receiving center using the wireless telephonic means.06-18-2009

20100322580Fiber Optic Cable Parking Device - A fiber optic apparatus, with a panel, having a front and a back and mountable in a chassis is disclosed. The panel has a parking port in the back adapted to removably receive an adapter. The panel also has a connection port in the front adapted to removably receive the adapter. The adapter is selectively movable between the parking port and the connection port. One end of the adapter opens toward the front and another end of the adapter opens toward the back. The adapter is removably received in the parking port, and a connector attached to a fiber optic cable inserts in the end opening toward the back. The adapter then may be moved from the parking port to the connection port and removably received in the connection port. Another connector attached to another fiber optic cable may be inserted in the other end of the adapter opening toward the front.12-23-2010

20110215831LOW POWER TELEMETRY SYSTEM AND METHOD - A telemetry system is described in which a plurality of channels are coupled to a bus. A control subsystem controls the channels so that one of the channels presents to the bus during its designated time period a channel characteristic. The control subsystem interrogates in the analog domain each of the channels during its designated time period, and forms a signal representative of the channel characteristic. The control subsystem may combine one or more of the signals into a digital packet, and transmit the same over a network. Each channel in the telemetry system can include a sample-and-hold circuit, a variable resistor circuit, and a control element. The sample-and-hold circuit is configured to hold a sample of a signal. The variable resistor circuit is configured to present a variable impedance to one or more signal lines during a time period designated for the channel an impedance representative of the sample held by the sample-and-hold circuit. The control element is configured to control the variable resistor circuit to present to the one or more signal lines an open circuit equivalent impedance during times other than the time period designated for the channel. In some implementations, the channel also includes a switch which decouples the sample-and-hold circuit from the variable resistor circuit during times other than the time period designated for the channel. In some implementations, the control element is a programmable control element that is programmable with a unique channel identifier, and may include a timing element which is updated responsive to a control signal. The programmable control element determines that the designated time period for the channel is occurring or will occur based on a comparison of the contents of the timing element with the unique channel identifier. The control element can be a zero power control element.09-08-2011
