20100191854PROCESS DEMAND PREDICTION FOR DISTRIBUTED POWER AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT - Methods and systems for allocating resources in a virtual desktop resource environment are provided. A method includes making a prediction on the future demand for processes running on a distributed environment with several hosts. The prediction is based on the process demand history and includes the removal of historic process demand glitches. Further, the prediction is used to perform a cost and benefit analysis for moving a candidate process from one host to another, and the candidate process is moved to a different host when the cost and benefit analysis recommends such move. In another embodiment, the predictions on future process demand are used for distributed power management by putting hosts in stand-by mode when the overall demand decreases or by adding hosts to the distributed environment when the load increases.07-29-2010

20100070784Reducing Power Consumption in a Server Cluster - A method of reducing power consumption of a server cluster of host systems with virtual machines executing on the host systems is disclosed. The method includes recommending host system power-on when there is a host system whose utilization is above a target utilization, and recommending host system power-off when there is a host system whose utilization is below the target utilization. Recommending host system power-on includes calculating impact of powering on a standby host system with respect to reducing the number of highly-utilized host systems in the server cluster. The impact of powering on is calculated by simulating moving some virtual machines from highly utilized host systems to the standby host system being recommended to be powered on. Recommending host system power-off includes calculating impact of powering off a host system with respect to decreasing the number of less-utilized host systems in the server cluster. The impact of powering off is calculated by simulating moving all virtual machines from the host system, which is being recommended to be powered-off, to less-utilized host systems.03-18-2010

20090275137HIGH AFFINITY TCR PROTEINS AND METHODS - T cell receptors (TCRS) that have higher affinity for a ligand than wild type TCRs are provided. These high affinity TCRs are formed by mutagenizing a T cell receptor protein coding sequence to generate a variegated population of mutants of the T cell receptor protein coding sequence; transforming the T cell receptor mutant coding sequence into yeast cells; inducing expression of the T cell receptor mutant coding sequence on the surface of yeast cells; and selecting those cells expressing T cell receptor mutants that have higher affinity for the peptide/MHC ligand than the wild type T cell receptor protein. The high affinity TCRs can be used in place of an antibody or single chain antibody.11-05-2009

20100332883METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR EVENT-BASED MANAGEMENT OF RESOURCES - A system for dispatching a thread to a resource obtains a thread and utilization data for all resources. The system determines if there is a thread-resource affinity. The system uses thread-resource affinity to identify a resource and a timestamp for when the thread last completed executing on the resource. The system determines if the resource qualifies under a dispatch policy. The system uses utilization data to determine a timestamp for when the resource last transitioned to a not powered state. When the second timestamp precedes the first timestamp, the system dispatches the thread to the resource and generates a power management event. The system determines if the power management event satisfies a throttle policy. The system discards the power management event when throttle policy is unsatisfied and determines whether to adjust the current power state of the resource based on the power management event when throttle policy is satisfied.12-30-2010
