COMPOSITION FOR CYTOCOMPATIBLE, INJECTABLE, SELF-GELLING POLYSACCHARIDE SOLUTIONS FOR ENCAPSULATING AND DELIVERING LIVE CELLS OR BIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE FACTORS - The present invention provides compositions and methods for tissue repair using a cytocompatible self-gelling cross-linked hydrogel. The composition comprises a biocompatible mixture of chitosan, bifunctional dialdehyde, and hydroxylated polymer, which can be used to immobilize or encapsulate viable cells, or bioactive substances. The method includes the process of mixing bioactive substances, live cells, and/or extracellular matrix components with a cross-linking solution comprising a bifunctional aldehyde-treated hydroxylated polymer such as hydroxyethyl cellulose. The cross-linking solution is then mixed homogenously with a neutral isotonic chitosan solution. The chitosan becomes cross-linked by the bifunctional aldehyde, while the cells are protected from potentially nocive effects of the aldehyde cross-linker by the hydroxylated polymer. The injectable solution retains cell viability and bioactivity, and immobilizes cells at the site of injection or delivery. Depending on the particular application, mixtures of chitosan and bifunctional dialdehyde may be employed. The injectable solution also liberates bioactive substances with controlled release kinetics from the site of injection. | 08-13-2009

METHOD FOR IN SITU SOLIDIFICATION OF BLOOD-POLYMER COMPOSITIONS FOR REGENERATIVE MEDICINE AND CARTILAGE REPAIR APPLICATIONS - The present invention relates to a method for repairing or regenerating tissues in a patient such as cartilage, meniscus, ligament, tendon, bone, skin, cornea, periodontal tissues, abscesses, resected tumors, cardiac tissues and ulcers. The method comprises the step of administering simultaneously or sequentially a pro-coagulant factor and an effective amount of a polymer composition comprising a biocompatible polymer and blood or a component thereof. When the polymer composition is in contact with the pro-coagulant factor it is converted into a non-liquid state such that the polymer composition will adhere to the site in need of repair to effect repair of the tissue and/or regeneration thereof. | 07-15-2010
COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR THE REPAIR AND REGENERATION OF CARTILAGE AND OTHER TISSUES - The present invention relates to a new method for repairing human or animal tissues such as cartilage, meniscus, ligament, tendon, bone, skin, cornea, periodontal tissues, abscesses, resected tumors, and ulcers. The method comprises the step of introducing into the tissue a temperature-dependent polymer gel composition such that the composition adhere to the tissue and promote support for cell proliferation for repairing the tissue. Other than a polymer, the composition preferably comprises a blood component such as whole blood, processed blood, venous blood, arterial blood, blood from bone, blood from bone-marrow, bone marrow, umbilical cord blood, placenta blood, erythrocytes, leukocytes, monocytes, platelets, fibrinogen, thrombin and platelet rich plasma. The present invention also relates to a new composition to be used with the method of the present invention. | 04-14-2011

Horizontal axis washing machine having 4 pole 36 slot motor - A horizontal axis washing machine includes a clothing receptacle rotated by a 4 pole rotor. A 36 slot stator having an interior bore with an interior diameter receives the 4 pole rotor in magnetic coupling relation and capable of operating within a flux weakening range of at least 5:1. The stator has a ratio of an interior diameter to a minimum exterior diameter greater than or equal to 0.63:1. | 08-28-2008

INTERIOR MAGNET MACHINE WITH REDUCED COGGING - An interior permanent magnet machine has non-contiguous, non-magnetic radial slots between the magnets and the cylindrical periphery and the magnets have non-magnetic radial end slots. | 06-24-2010
Dryer Motor and Control - A drying device has been developed having a single electric motor configured to drive a drum and directly drive an air blower. The single electric motor is a non-line frequency electric motor. The drum is coupled to a support frame to enable rotation of the drum relative the support frame. The drum has an interior space for holding a load of articles, such as clothing. The motor includes a controller configured to increase gradually the angular velocity of the drum to provide a “soft start” for the dryer. | 01-20-2011

MODULAR TERMINAL AND MODULAR TERMINAL BLOCK - A modular terminal having a terminal housing, a busbar, and two terminal elements for connecting two conductors to the busbar. Two functional slots are formed at both connecting ends in the terminal housing. The first functional slot provides a first connection possibility for a first test socket or a test plug, and, the second functional slot provides a second connection possibility for a fixed link or a jumper. In order to be able to mount the testing and switching equipment in a simple and flexible manner in the modular terminal, an additional third functional slot is formed at both connecting ends in the terminal housing, a third connection possibility corresponding to the third functional slot is formed at both connecting ends in the busbar, and the connection possibilities in the busbar are openings into which test sockets, test plugs, fixed links, or jumpers can be alternatively plugged. | 03-10-2011
