| 20110018268 | WIND TURBINE AND ROTOR BLADE WITH REDUCED LOAD FLUCTUATIONS - A wind turbine includes a rotor having a number of rotor blades. At least one rotor blade has openings. The rotor blade has air-displacement elements which, in use, alternately force air out of and into the openings. A sensor is provided for detecting wind speed fluctuations. A control unit is provided for controlling the air-displacement elements depending on the wind speed fluctuations detected by the sensor. The rotor blade has an aerodynamic profile with a suction side and a pressure side. At least one opening is provided on the suction side. The control unit is designed for operating the air-displacement elements of the opening on the suction side if the sensor has detected a positive speed fluctuation. At least one opening is provided on the pressure side. The control unit is designed for operating the air-displacement element of the opening on the pressure side if the sensor has detected a negative speed fluctuation. | 01-27-2011 |

| 20090247476 | MANNITOL AND/OR PROLINE FOR PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF AGEING RELATED SYMPTOMS - The current invention provides new methods and means for the prevention and treatment of ageing-related symptoms and diseases. The invention discloses mannitol 5 and/or proline containing compositions that are particularly useful for the treatment of premature ageing related symptoms in mammalian subjects suffering from genetic defects in DNA damage response and genome maintenance pathways. Humans suffering from Cockayne syndrome (CS), Xeroderma pigmentosum (XP), combined XPCS, trichothiodystrophy (TTD), COFS (cerebro-oculo-facio-skeletal syndrome), 10 XFE disorder (Xpf-Erccl syndrome), Bloom Syndrome (BS), Werner Syndrome (WS), Ataxia telangiectasia (AT), Fanconi Anemia (FA), Hutchinson Guilford Progeria (HGP) may be treated with pharmaceutical compositions comprising mannitol and/or proline according to this invention. | 10-01-2009 |

| 20090077676 | PREMATURELY AGEING MOUSE MODELS FOR THE ROLE OF DNA DAMAGE IN AGEING AND INTERVENTION IN AGEING-RELATED PATHOLOGY - The current invention pertains to a method for screening and discovery of compounds capable of inhibiting, preventing, delaying or reducing genome maintenance disorders and consequences thereof, in particular ageing related symptoms and disorders. The current invention provides a method for screening and discovery of compounds that are capable of inhibiting, preventing, delaying or reducing genome maintenance disorders and consequences thereof. The invention exploits animal models that comprise deficiencies in their genome maintenance systems, such as DNA repair systems, and display premature, enhanced, accelerated or segmental ageing phenotypes. These animal models can be advantageously applied to screen compounds and thereby develop schemes of intervention to treat, delay, inhibit, prevent or cure ageing related symptoms. The current invention thus provides a new and powerful tool to screen aid/or discover therapeutically active compounds to treat ageing related symptoms and diseases. On the same basis it permits screening and discovery of compounds that influence ischemia, reperfusion damage in organ/tissue transplantation, chemotherapy and stem cell transplantation. | 03-19-2009 |
