20110059748SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR LOCALIZED WIRELESS NOTIFICATION - Implementations relate to systems and methods for localized notification that provide localized information to one or more mobile devices in a wireless communication system that are located in one or more geographical regions. The wireless communication system includes a localized notification server that responds to geographically-targeted broadcast requests and localized service or information requests. The localized notification server localizes components of the wireless communication system into sets of localized components that provide wireless communication service to mobile devices in the specific geographical regions.03-10-2011

20100179865MULTIMEDIA CONTENT CACHE - Music can be broadcast from a radio station and recorded onto a cache of a personal electronic device, such as a portable digital music player. The recording can occur such that there is segmenting of music into different cache portions based upon classification. Instead of playing music from the radio station, music can be played from the cache to ensure high quality and desirable variety. Different rules can be used to govern which music is played as well as how music should be removed from the cache. In addition, targeted advertisements can be used that relate to the music in the cache as well as a user location.07-15-2010

20090231220ADAPTIVE TUNABLE ANTENNAS FOR WIRELESS DEVICES - Techniques for adjusting one or more antenna parameters to optimize the performance of a wireless device are disclosed. In an embodiment, a variable antenna match is provided with a control signal for selecting a preferred antenna match setting. The preferred antenna match setting may correspond to the setting having a best signal quality metric. In a further embodiment, a variable antenna electrical length module is provided with a control signal for selecting a preferred antenna electrical length. Further techniques for accommodating multiple antennas are disclosed.09-17-2009
20090298437METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SEARCHING FOR SIGNALS IN A WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - Techniques to search for signals while in an out-of-service state are described. In an aspect, a network entity may collect information for wireless devices within a designated area, determine at least one search parameter (e.g., a scan rate) based on the collected information, and provide the search parameter(s) to wireless devices within the designated area. The wireless devices may perform searches for signals in accordance with the search parameter(s) when they are out of service. In another aspect, a wireless device may collect information related to out-of-service events encountered by the wireless device, send the collected information to the network entity, receive the search parameter(s) from the network entity, and perform searches in accordance with the search parameter(s) when out of service. In yet another aspect, the wireless device may determine the search parameter(s) based on the collected information.12-03-2009

20090117861PERSONAL HEALTH MODULES SUPPORTED BY PORTABLE COMMUNICATION DEVICES - A wireless device having a remote station portion, such as a cellular telephone, PDA, laptop computer, handheld computer, or the like and a removably connectable medical device portion, such as a blood glucose monitor or the like, is provided. The medical device portion is separated from the remote station portion by an isolation circuit and electromagnetic shielding to inhibit the electronics and radio frequency transmission of the remote station portion interfering with the medical device. Moreover, a control processor in the remote station portion has a battery management module to disable functions as the charge in the power source falls to provide sufficient power for operation of the medical device.05-07-2009
20090117888WIRELESS DEVICE HAVING CONFIGURABLE MODES - A wireless device having user defined configurable modes includes a memory have at least one configuration segment containing configuration information relating to at least one application or mode. The user enters the user defined configuration that causes a control processor to configure the wireless device based on the configuration information.05-07-2009
20090119468SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND APPARATUSES FOR ERASING MEMORY ON WIRELESS DEVICES - A wireless device having a memory is provided. The memory or a protected portion of the memory is subject to a hard erasure of the memory vs. a soft erasure of the memory if a plurality of sensors indicate a threat to the device exists. The threat may be detected by a plurality of sensors, such as, a timer, a connectivity sensor, a location sensor or geo-fence, a breech sensor, an authentication procedure or the like.05-07-2009
20090156199MONITORING AND TROUBLESHOOTING A MODULE ASSOCIATED WITH A PORTABLE COMMUNICATION DEVICE - Methods, apparatuses, and software to monitor, troubleshoot, or diagnose one or more specialty modules associated with a portable communication device are provided. The methods, apparatuses, and software identify the specialty module, obtain and execute procedures to monitor, test, or diagnose the specialty module. If unsatisfactory, error, defective or the like performance is identified, a solution is applied to correct, the performance.06-18-2009
