MOBILE BODY CONTROL DEVICE AND MOBILE BODY CONTROL METHOD - A mobile body control device includes: a brain activity detecting unit that detects brain activity information of a user; a brain signal separating unit that separates an artifact component from the brain activity information detected by the brain activity detecting unit; a control signal generating unit that slides a sampling period for extracting brain data, at predetermined intervals in an overlapped manner in the brain activity information from which the artifact component is separated, successively calculates feature values for the brain data within each of the sampling periods obtained by sliding, and generates a control signal based on the feature values calculated; and a drive control unit that drives and controls a mobile body with a user riding thereon, based on the control signal generated. | 06-23-2011
ULTRASENSITIVE MAGNETIC SENSOR BASED ON GIANT FARADAY ROTATION - A high-resolution sensor of magnetic field sensor system and materials for use in such a system are described. The sensor systems measure a magnetic field using inorganic and/or organic magneto-optically active materials, e.g. polymer material and have an interferometer based on Faraday rotation. The polymer material is preferably in the form of a film. The polymer material has an optical property that is sensitive to the magnetic field, e.g. the Faraday rotation effect. The present invention also provides a sensor head structure comprising the above polymer material. The sensor head may be designed for use with an optical fiber or with mirrors. In particular the present invention provides a fiber Sagnac interferometer to measure the rotation of polarized plane of light. The present invention provides a fiber or mirror based Sagnac interferometer with passive phase bias applied to magnetic field sensing. This invention has the following three major aspects each being an embodiment of the present invention: 1. Sensing material: a conjugate polymer such as polythiophene and/or a polymer containing superparamagnetic nanoparticles that exhibits a giant Faraday rotation. 2. Magnetic field probe that incorporates the above polymer or polymer/nanoparticle composite, e.g. in the form of a film. 3. Sensor: The sensor combines an optical fiber-based Sagnac interferometer and the above magnetic field probe. | 01-05-2012

MANUFACTURING METHOD OF GAS DISCHARGE TUBE, GAS DISCHARGE TUBE, AND DISPLAY DEVICE - A gas discharge tube is manufactured by closing an opening of a glass tube by forming a glass layer with outer peripheral shape identical to the outer peripheral shape of the glass tube on an end face of the glass tube. An open end face (opening) of the glass tube is pressure-welded to a dry film containing a low melting point glass powder and a binder resin, and then the glass tube is lifted up to transfer the dry film for closing the opening to the end face of the glass tube. A phosphor support member is inserted into the glass tube from a side opposite to the end face and then an end of the phosphor support member is caused to adhere to the dry film. The binder resin is burnt off, and the dry film is vitrified to produce a low melting point glass layer. | 09-18-2008
Light-emitting discharge tube, method of fabricating the same, and protective film forming apparatus - A light-emitting discharge tube in which an outer wall surface of a glass tube is made less susceptible to flaws by forming a protective film on the outer wall surface of the glass tube, a method of fabricating the light-emitting discharge tube, and a protective film forming apparatus are provided. The light-emitting discharge tube defines light-emitting discharge regions by a plurality of external electrodes. The outer wall surface of the light-emitting discharge tube (the glass tube) is coated with the protective film (a metal film, a conductive metal oxide film, an insulating metal oxide film, or an organic film). | 05-21-2009
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING ELECTRODE FOIL - A method of manufacturing a electrode foil composed of a valve metal layer of a first valve metal and a metal foil of a second valve metal supporting the valve metal layer, the method includes coating fine particles of the first valve metal with a resin to form composite fine particles, forming the composite fine particles into an aerosol, jetting the aerosol to the metal foil in an atmosphere under a reduced pressure, depositing the composite fine particles onto the metal foil to form a aerosol deposition layer, and removing selectively the resin from the aerosol deposition layer to form the valve metal layer. | 08-27-2009
ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME - An electronic device includes a substrate, a stationary electrode provided above the substrate, a movable electrode that is provided to face the stationary electrode, a wall portion that is provided on the substrate and surrounds the movable electrode and the stationary electrode, a film member that is fixed to the wall portion and seals space including the movable electrode and the stationary electrode, and a support portion that is provided, on an inner side of the wall portion on the substrate, in addition to the movable electrode and the stationary electrode to support the film member from within the space. | 11-25-2010
