An example method comprises identifying a plurality of video segments having closed caption data corresponding to a phrase, the plurality of video segments associated with respective ones of a plurality of audio data segments, computing a plurality of difference metrics between a baseline audio data segment associated with the phrase and respective ones of the plurality of audio data segments, selecting a set of the plurality of audio data segments based on the plurality of difference metrics, identifying a first one of the audio data segments in the set as a representative audio data segment, determining a first phonetic transcription of the representative audio data segment, and adding the first phonetic transcription to a speech recognition library when the first phonetic transcription differs from a second phonetic transcription associated with the phrase in the speech recognition library.11-19-2009
20090288118Methods and Apparatus to Generate Relevance Rankings for Use by a Program Selector of a Media Presentation System - Example methods and apparatus to generate relevance rankings for use by a program selector of a media presentation system are disclosed. An example method comprises tabulating a plurality of occurrence counts for respective ones of a plurality of terms of a program guide, each of the occurrence counts indicating a corresponding number of times each of the terms appears in the program guide, computing a plurality of relevance ranking scores for respective ones of a plurality of programs listed in the program guide based on the plurality of occurrence counts, selecting a list of programs from the program guide based on the relevance ranking scores, and outputting the list of programs.11-19-2009
20090319276Voice Enabled Remote Control for a Set-Top Box - A remote control device includes a digital audio storage device, a talk button, and an optical distance measurer. The digital audio storage device is configured to continually record an audio input for a specific amount of time. The talk button is coupled to the digital audio storage device and is configured to initiate a transmission of the audio input to a set-top box device. The optical distance measurer is coupled to the talk button and is configured to automatically measure a distance to a user in response to the talk button being pressed.12-24-2009
20090320076System and Method for Processing an Interactive Advertisement - A set-top box device comprises a speech recognition module, a video image recognition module, and a voice over Internet protocol bridge. The speech recognition module is configured to perform speech recognition on a voice command signal to determine an action to take in the set-top box device. The video image recognition module is connected to the speech recognition module, and is configured to recognize a display device image. The voice over Internet protocol bridge is coupled to the video image recognition module, and is configured to connect a voice telephone call from the set-top box device to a call center.12-24-2009
20100142684SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AUTOMATICALLY TRANSCRIBING VOICEMAIL - Disclosed herein are systems, computer-implemented methods, and tangible computer-readable media for automatically transcribing voicemail. The method includes receiving a plurality of voicemail messages from callers, identifying for each voicemail message in the plurality of voicemail messages a first frequency with which the respective caller leaves voicemails, identifying for each voicemail message in the plurality of voicemail messages a second frequency with which a user requests transcription of each voicemail, assigning a priority ranking to each voicemail message in the plurality of voicemail messages based on the respective first frequency and the respective second frequency, and transcribing untranscribed voicemail messages with a highest priority ranking. The method can include establishing a priority ranking threshold and repeatedly transcribing a next highest ranking untranscribed voicemail message until no further untranscribed voicemail messages remain above the priority ranking threshold.06-10-2010
20100169088AUTOMATED DEMOGRAPHIC ANALYSIS - A method of generating demographic information relating to an individual is provided. The method includes monitoring an environment for a voice activity of an individual and detecting the voice activity of the individual. The method further includes analyzing the detected voice activity of the individual and determining, based on the detected voice activity of the individual, a demographic descriptor of the individual.07-01-2010
20110067059MEDIA CONTROL - Systems and methods to control media are disclosed. A particular method includes receiving a speech input at a mobile communications device. The speech input is processed to generate audio data. The audio data is sent, via a mobile data network, to a first server. The first server processes the audio data to generate text based on the audio data. Data related to the text is received from the first server. One or more commands are sent to a second server via the mobile data network. In response to the one or more commands, the second server sends control signals based on the one or more commands to a media controller. The control signals cause the media controller to control multimedia content displayed via a display device.03-17-2011
20110075657SYSTEM AND METHOD OF PROVIDING MULTIMEDIA COMMUNICATION SERVICES - In a particular embodiment, a method of providing multimedia communication services includes receiving, at an intelligent service switch (ISS) of an integrated wireline-wireless (IWW) network, a service request from a wireline communication device. The method includes receiving contextual information associated with the service request, the contextual information including a time of the service request, a range of times of the service request, a day of the service request, a range of days of the service request, a date of the service request, a range of dates of the service request, a location of the wireline communication device, a type of the wireline communication device, or a combination thereof. At least one multimedia communication service is provided to the wireline communication device. The at least one multimedia communication service includes audio entertainment content, news content, weather content, traffic content, securities market content, sports content, financial content, local business location content, local event schedule content, network address book content, calendar content, appointment content, map content, call log content, or a combination thereof.03-31-2011
