20110076696 | CARDIOVASCULAR SAFETY ASSAY - The present invention provides assays and kits for the screening of test compounds for their capability to induce cardiotoxicity in a subject. Said assays and kits are based on the finding that the interaction of astemizole with the HERG potassium channel can be exploited to predict cardiotoxicity of compounds during the development of new therapeutics and other agents. | 03-31-2011 |

20100209851 | METHOD OF MAKING A LITHOGRAPHIC PRINTING PLATE - A method of making a lithographic printing plate comprising the steps of: a) providing a lithographic printing plate precursor comprising a support having a hydrophilic surface or which is provided with a hydrophilic layer, and a coating provided thereon, said coating comprising (i) a contiguous photopolymerisable layer having a photopolymerisable composition, or (ii) a contiguous intermediate layer and thereon a photopolymerisable layer having a photopolymerisable composition, wherein said photopolymerisable composition comprises a polymerisable compound, a polymerization initiator and a first polymer, b) image-wise exposing said coating, c) optionally, heating the precursor, d) developing the precursor by treating the coating of the precursor with a gum solution or by mounting the exposed precursor on a plate cylinder of a lithographic printing press and rotating the plate cylinder while feeding dampening liquid and/or ink to the coating, wherein said contiguous photopolymerisable or intermediate layer further comprises (1) an adhesion promoting compound which is a non-polymeric compound containing a group having an ethylenically unsaturated bond and a group selected from a phosphate group, a phosphonate group and a trialkoxysilane group, and (2) a second polymer having at least 1 mol % of a first monomeric unit having a phosphate group, a phosphonate group, a carboxylic acid group, a sulphonic acid group, a phenolic group, a trialkoxysilane group, an ammonium group or a phosphonium group and at least 30 mol % of a second monomeric unit having a hydrophilic group, wherein the amount of said adhesion promoting compound is higher than the amount of said second polymer, with the proviso that, if the contiguous layer is the photopolymerisable layer, the amount of said second polymer xn the photopolymerisable layer is at least 0.01% by weight and less than 5% by weight. | 08-19-2010 |

20130074765 | METHOD OF ADJUSTING SURFACE TOPOGRAPHY - Methods for adjusting the topography of a surface, such as for making a support surface substantially flat, e.g. for mitigating variations in a print gap, are described. The topography of the surface is first measured, and then a shim layer is printed to approximate the topography to a reference topography, the thickness of the layer being calculated using the measurements. For example the print gap comprising the distance between the surface of a printer table and printing means, such as a printhead. The print gap is first measured before at least one layer of ink is printed, using the printing means, at a selected position based on the measured print gap. The thickness of the layer of ink is selected to mitigate the variations in the print gap. In some embodiments, a substrate support surface may then be arranged over the printer table, so that the printed layer is disposed between the printer table and the substrate support surface. The apparatus can compensate for variations in the print gap due both to irregularities in the printer table surface and misalignment in mounting of the printing means. Also described is a printer table produced according to the methods described. | 03-28-2013 |

20080247289 | Copy protection of optical discs - The more effective is the copy protection provided on a DVD, the greater is the likelihood that the copy protection will adversely interfere with legitimate uses of the disc. In a disc where the content is arranged in physical sectors, it is now proposed to provide subversive regions on the disc having a similar structure to genuine regions. A subversive region and a genuine region will each extend over one or more physical sectors. The subversive region will be provided with physical sector addresses which coincide with addresses of the genuine region. Navigational data will ensure that it is the genuine, rather than the subversive, region which will be accessed during normal play, but the subversive region will effectively hide the genuine region during copying. | 10-09-2008 |

20090201781 | METHOD AND PRODUCT FOR COPY PROTECTION OF OPTICAL DISCS USING UNBALANCED DC CONTENT - The present invention relates to a method of copy protecting optical discs, such as CDs or DVDs. Instead of encoding data onto the CD-ROMs in a conventional manner which ensures balanced dc content, for copy protection the digital data is encoded and recorded onto the optical disc such that it is arranged to give some of the recorded digital data highly unbalanced dc content. Thus, for example, the DSV (digital sum value) value of the encoded data is recorded so that the DSV value changes continuously once 50 frames of data or more. | 08-13-2009 |
