20120021175POLYCRYSTALLINE ALUMINUM NITRIDE MATERIAL AND METHOD OF PRODUCTION THEREOF - Methods of preparing polycrystalline aluminum nitride materials that have high density, high purity, and favorable surface morphology are disclosed. The methods generally comprises pressing aluminum nitride powders to form a slug, sintering the slug to form a sintered, polycrystalline aluminum nitride boule, and optionally shaping the boule and/or polishing at least a portion of the boule to provide a finished substrate. The sintered, polycrystalline aluminum nitride materials beneficially are prepared without the use of any sintering aid or binder, and the formed materials exhibit excellent density, AlN purity, and surface morphology.01-26-2012

20080215604Processing Pedigree Data - A device, namely, one of a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) device and an Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) is described. The FPGA or ASIC is configured to represent one or more pedigree data structures, each structure comprising at least two generations. The device comprises a plurality of logic cells arranged such that one or more of the logic cells model a module of the pedigree data structure, where each module of the pedigree data structure is representative of an individual in a pedigree, input circuitry to receive pedigree data and output circuitry to output processed data; and electrical connections between the logic cells and the input and output circuitry. The arrangement of the logic cells and electrical connections enable parallel processing on a loaded pedigree data structure such that the transmission of pedigree data through at least a subset of the, or each, pedigree data structure occurs in each sampling cycle. A method and data structure are further disclosed.09-04-2008

20110195388DYNAMIC AUDIO PLAYBACK OF SOUNDTRACKS FOR ELECTRONIC VISUAL WORKS - An electronic book is provided with a soundtrack, to which a reader can listen while reading the electronic book. The soundtrack accompanies and enhances the reading experience, in which readers generally have images in their minds based on the story or other visual media that is part of the electronic book. Playback of the soundtrack is synchronized with the visual display of the electronic book. Audio cues are associated with different points in the text and these cues are dynamically played back in synchronization with the visual display of the electronic book based on the interaction of the user with the electronic book. The dynamic playback involves editing and playing an audio cue so that it has a duration that is based on a prediction of the duration of the portion of the electronic book with which the cue is synchronized. When the system starts playing an audio cue, it predicts when the next audio cue should start. The current cue is played for predicted duration and a transition to the next audio cue is initiated at an appropriate time.08-11-2011
