20080217393Sharing of database objects - A system may include reading a provider database mapping of file identifiers to page numbers of the provider database, determining one or more shared database objects of the provider database based on the provider database mapping, and registering the one or more shared database objects in a local namespace of a reader database.09-11-2008
20090089307WRITABLE SHARED DATABASE OBJECTS - A system may include a provider database, a reader database, and a database management system. The provider database may include a provider data area having a plurality of provider block addresses, and the reader database may include a reader data area having a plurality of reader block addresses, and a mapping of provider-specific identifiers to block addresses of the plurality of provider data pages and of reader-specific identifiers to block addresses of the plurality of reader data pages.04-02-2009
20100228787ONLINE DATA VOLUME DELETION - A system to delete a data volume may include storage of a plurality of data pages of the data volume of a data area into a cache, prevention of writing of data pages to the data volume, and designation of each of the plurality of data pages in the cache as modified. The system may also include writing of all data pages in the cache that are designated as modified to a respective location in one or more other data volumes of the data area, and updating, for each of the written data pages, a converter page of the cache to associate the written data page with its respective location in the one or more other data volumes.09-09-2010
20110145186ONLINE ACCESS TO DATABASE SNAPSHOTS - An executing database instance includes a first plurality of database pages associated with a previous state of the database instance, a cache storing a current converter of the executing database instance, the current converter not representing the first plurality of database pages, and a database management system. The database management system is to receive a request for access to the first plurality of database pages, and perform a database task using one or more of the first plurality of database pages while the database instance is executing.06-16-2011

20090188150DNA SAMPLING HOOK - The DNA Sampling Hook is a significant improvement on a method of obtaining a tissue sample from a live fish in situ from an aquatic environment. A tissue sample taken from a live fish can be used for DNA analyses, which can identify the species of fish, as well as the unique individual fish. Taking a small tissue sample without bringing the fish to the surface is important as it allows for observing the fish community without harming the individual fish by inducing barotrauma or other stresses associated with bringing a fish up from depth, which can be lethal to the animal. These tissue samples are obtained by hook and line methods and do not capture or traumatize the fish resulting in a non-lethal and non-destructive method of observing fish individuals and species. The DNA Sampling Hook is specifically designed to virtually eliminate a condition called double bites, in which more than one individual fish gives up tissue to the same hook. It is also designed to protect the tissue sample in an enclosed manner and the device can be reused repeatedly for a total overall reduction in cost for programs requiring extensive numbers of tissue samples for DNA analysis.07-30-2009

20080308222NANOPARTICULATE PREPARATION - The invention relates to nanoparticulate preparations containing at least one mixed metal oxide in the form of supramagnetic, nanoscale particles, methods for heating such a preparation, and methods for producing and dissolving adhesive compounds on the basis of said preparations.12-18-2008
20090133822NANOPARTICULATE PREPARATION - The invention relates to nanoparticulate preparations containing at least one mixed metal oxide in the form of supramagnetic, nanoscale particles, methods for heating such a preparation, and methods for producing and dissolving adhesive compounds on the basis of said preparations.05-28-2009
20100273085Method for the Electrochemical Deposition of Catalyst Particles Onto Carbon Fibre-Containing Substrates and Apparatus Therefor - The present invention describes a method and an apparatus for the electrochemical deposition of fine catalyst particles onto carbon fibre-containing substrates which have a compensating layer (“microlayer”). The method comprises the preparation of a precursor suspension containing ionomer, carbon black and metal ions. This suspension is applied to the substrate and then dried. The deposition of the catalyst particles onto the carbon fibre-containing substrate is effected by a pulsed electrochemical method in an aqueous electrolyte. The noble metal-containing catalyst particles produced by the method have particle sizes in the nanometer range. The catalyst-coated substrates are used for the production of electrodes, gas diffusion electrodes and membrane electrode units for electrochemical devices, such as fuel cells (membrane fuel cells, PEMFC, DMFC, etc.), electrolysers or electrochemical sensors.10-28-2010
20100297904Ultrahydrophobic substrate provided on its surface with metallic nanoparticles, method of production and use of same - A method of producing a ultrahydrophobic substrate provided on its surface with metallic nanoparticles comprising the steps of furnishing a ultrahydrophobic substrate, applying a precursor layer on said substrate with deposition of metallic nanoparticles from the precursor layer on the substrate. The precursor layer is preferably free of electronic conductive particles and the particles are preferably deposited electrochemically from the precursor layer.11-25-2010
