20110106888SYSTEM, METHOD AND COMPUTER PROGRAM PRODUCT FOR ASSET SHARING AMONG HIERARCHICALLY INTERCONNECTED OBJECTS - In some embodiments, a parent object may share its assets with its descendent(s) in a hierarchical asset sharing model. The hierarchical asset sharing model may specify a plurality of asset sharing modes. In a first mode, an asset of the parent is imposed on a child. The child is able to utilize the asset, but unable to modify or delete the asset. In a second mode, the child is able to utilize the asset and a copy of the asset is generated when the child attempts to modify the asset. The child can modify the copy of the asset, which is stored as an asset only of the child. The original asset is no longer shared becomes an asset only of the parent. In a third mode, both the parent and the child can utilize and modify the asset.05-05-2011

20100006435Microfluidic System - A method for forming a microfluidic channel with improved flow characteristics for one or more analytes is disclosed. A microfluidic channel having modified surfaces is formed in fused silica. The fused silica surfaces are modified by the addition of a layer of borophosphosilicate glass. The addition of the borophosphosilicate glass results in an improved flow velocity profile of the analyte. As a result, control over the position and movement of analytes within the solution is improved.01-14-2010
20100014544Narrow Spectrum Light Source - An apparatus and method are disclosed for decreasing the spectral bandwidth of a semiconductor laser, such as a vertical cavity surface emitting laser.01-21-2010
20100149523Optical Chemical Detector and Method - An apparatus and method for optically detecting the presence of an analyte in a solution is presented. An embodiment comprises a waveguide resonator that is optically coupled to a fluid in a fluidic conduit so that the resonant wavelength of the waveguide resonator is based on the refractive index of the fluid.06-17-2010
20100150496Optical Chemical Detector and Method - An apparatus and method for optically detecting the presence of an analyte in a solution is presented. An embodiment comprises a waveguide resonator that is optically coupled to a fluid in a fluidic conduit so that the resonant wavelength of the waveguide resonator is based on the refractive index of the fluid.06-17-2010
20110058158Waveguide-based Sensor - A sensor for sensing a target chemical with high signal-to-noise ratio is disclosed. In some embodiments, the sensor comprises a sensing region that is optically coupled with an attenuation region. The sensing region receives optical stimulation that comprises light characterized by an excitation wavelength. In response to exposure to the target chemical, the sensing region fluoresces at a fluorescence wavelength. The attenuation region receives light from the fluorescing sensing region that includes light characterized by the fluorescence wavelength (i.e., signal) and light characterized by the excitation wavelength (i.e., noise). The attenuation region conveys the light to a detector that provides an electrical output signal based on the target chemical. While conveying the light, however, the attenuation region improves the signal-to-noise ratio by attenuating light characterized by the excitation wavelength more than light characterized by the fluorescence region.03-10-2011

20080202404VESSEL WITH MOORING SYSTEM, AND MOORING SYSTEM - Vessel with mooring system, comprising a turret anchored to the seabed and a turret casing being part of the vessel, wherein the turret and turret casing are interconnected by a connecting element comprising a bearing arrangement and wherein the connecting element has a first end connected to the turret casing and an opposite second end connected to the turret. The connecting element is positioned in such a manner that it experiences tensile forces. When the turret downwardly loads the turret casing the first end of the connecting element is positioned at a higher level then the second end thereof. When the turret upwardly loads the turret casing the first end of the connecting element is positioned at a lower level then the second end thereof.08-28-2008
