20090194458Process and Apparatus for Upgrading Steam Cracked Tar - A process and apparatus are provided for upgrading steam cracked tars. The invention also relates to a steam cracking process and apparatus for reducing the yields of tars produced from steam cracking while increasing yields of higher value products, heating cooled steam cracker tar containing asphaltenes, to a temperature, e.g., above about 300° C., which is sufficient to convert at least a portion of the steam cracked tar to lower boiling molecules. The resulting heat-treated tar can be separated into gas oil, fuel oil and tar streams.08-06-2009
20090255852Process and Apparatus for Upgrading Steam Cracked Tar Using Steam - A process and apparatus are provided for upgrading steam cracked tars. The invention also relates to a steam cracking process and apparatus for reducing the yields of tars produced from steam cracking while increasing yields of higher value products, heating, in the presence of steam, cooled steam cracker tar containing asphaltenes, to a temperature, e.g., above about 300° C., which is sufficient to convert at least a portion of the steam cracked tar to lower boiling molecules. The resulting heat and steam-treated tar can be separated into gas oil, fuel oil and tar streams.10-15-2009
20100320119Process and Apparatus for Upgrading Steam Cracker Tar-Containing Effluent Using Steam - A process and apparatus are provided for the present invention relates to a process for upgrading tar-containing effluent from a steam cracker furnace that comprises: a) contacting a steam cracker tar-containing effluent with steam and for a time, sufficient to convert at least a portion of the steam cracker tar to a mixture comprising lower boiling molecules and the steam cracker tar-containing effluent; and b) separating the mixture from step a) into i) at least one tar-lean product; and ii) a tar-rich product having a final boiling above the final boiling point of the at least one tar-lean product. Step a) can includes at least one of: 1) contacting said steam cracker tar-containing effluent with steam added to the effluent in a transfer line downstream of a steam cracker furnace comprising a quench inlet, with the steam added through or downstream of the quench inlet; 2) contacting the steam cracker tar-containing effluent with steam under heat soaking conditions in a heat soaking vessel to which the steam is added; and 3) contacting the steam cracker tar-containing effluent with steam under visbreaking conditions in a visbreaker. The steam treated tar can be separated into higher value gas oil, fuel oil and tar streams.12-23-2010
20110005970Process and Apparatus for Upgrading Steam Cracker Tar Using Hydrogen Donor Compounds - A process and apparatus are provided for upgrading steam cracker tars from steam crackers. The invention also relates to a steam cracking process and apparatus for reducing yields of tars produced from steam cracking while increasing yields of higher value products by heating steam cracker tar, in the presence of hydrogen donor compounds, e.g., tetralin. The hydrogen donor compounds can be provided in a hydrogen donor-rich hydrocarbon stream, e.g., light cycle oils, or low sulfur vacuum tower bottoms. The treated tar can be separated into gas oil, fuel oil and tar streams.01-13-2011

20080246490METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR AN IN-FLIGHT PRECIPITATION STATIC SENSOR - A precipitation static sensor includes a bottom flexible dielectric layer (e.g., a layer of urethane tape) configured to be attached to a wing or other external surface of an aircraft, a flexible conductive layer (e.g., a layer of aluminum tape) formed over a portion of the first flexible dielectric layer, and a conductor (such as a twisted-pair wire) coupled to the flexible conductive layer. A top flexible dielectric layer is formed over a portion of the bottom dielectric layer and a portion of the flexible conductive layer, thus forming an exposed detector region. In accordance with a further embodiment, multiple such precipitation static sensors are used and coupled to a meter device (e.g., a picoammeter), which may also be coupled to a data acquisition and display for providing a visual indication of the charge accumulated by the precipitation static sensors.10-09-2008
20100124472Conductive Sleeved Fastener Assembly - A conductive sleeved fastener assembly includes an electrically-conductive fastener having a fastener head and a fastener shank extending from the fastener head and an electrically-conductive fastener sleeve receiving the fastener shank of the fastener and a fastener sleeve flange provided on the fastener sleeve and disposed in direct contact with the fastener head of the fastener. A method of preparing a conductive sleeved fastener for use is also disclosed.05-20-2010

20080297967LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEM FOR AN AIRCRAFT COMPOSITE STRUCTURE - An apparatus comprises a wall, an internal structure, and a fastener. The wall has a conductive surface and a countersunk hole. The countersunk hole passes through the internal structure. The fastener has an interference fit within the countersunk hole.12-04-2008
20100020461Lightning Protection System for Aircraft Composite Structure - A lightning-protected conductive composite fuel tank includes a conductive material arrayed on an outer surface to at least partially cover a fastener centerline. Through holes extend along the fastener centerline through the conductive material and the underlying fuel tank shell. These through holes are countersunk into the fuel tank shell to a depth such that a fastener in a through hole will avoid electrical continuity or communication with the conductive material on the fuel tank outer surface. The gap in the countersunk through holes, between the fastener heads and the coextensive outer surface of the fuel tank, is filled with a dielectric or nonconductive material.01-28-2010

20110119187Electronic sales method - A method is presented for facilitating sales transactions by electronic media. A temporary barcode or other design is tattooed onto a tattoo sheet, previously organized by verifiable chronological date. The tattoo sheet is made with an adhesive sufficient to allow the tattoo, once printed, to be transferred onto the skin of a person or to a personal object and remain affixed to said person or personal object during the period of time for which a financial transaction might occur. The transferable temporary tattoo is then removed from the sheet and applied to the skin of the individual or to a personal object in their possession. Before the sales transaction can be consummated, the tattoo information along with the corresponding valid date information is scanned with a scanner. Characteristics about the scanned tattoo are compared to characteristics about other tattoos stored on a computer database for the specific time period in question in order to verify the identity of the buyer for a given time period. Additionally, the chronological information is verified to ensure that the transaction is occurring only during a previously prescribed valid time period for which a given tattoo is valid. Once both pieces of information are verified, the seller may be authorized to debit the buyer's bank electronic bank account in order to consummate the transaction or transactions during the given period of time. The seller's electronic bank account may be similarly updated.05-19-2011
