20100063788METHOD OF MODELLING THE INTERACTION BETWEEN DEFORMABLE OBJECTS - The present invention provides methods for determining a collision between a first deformable object and a second deformable object in a virtual reality simulation, the method including the steps of providing a first test capable of determining the proximity of the first object to the second object, providing a second test capable of determining the proximity of the first object to the second object, wherein the second test is more comprehensive than the first test, and wherein the second test is capable of being implemented once the first test returns a positive result. Since the more comprehensive test is implemented only when a collision is likely or imminent (as determined by the first test), the processor executing the simulation is not unduly burdened, and can devote resources to other tasks required by the simulation program.03-11-2010

20100054149Network Performance Management - The performance of a network can be managed by receiving a set of key quality parameters, wherein a key quality parameter represents a characteristic associated with at least one network component; identifying a service quality mapping module based on one or more network components associated with providing an end customer service, wherein the service quality mapping module corresponds to at least one service instance and defines a correlation between the set of key quality parameters and a set of customer quality parameters; applying the service quality mapping module to the set of key quality parameters to generate the set of customer quality parameters; and outputting a signal representing at least one customer quality parameter included in the set of customer quality parameters. Further, the service quality mapping module can define a linear dependency between a customer quality parameter and at least one key quality parameter.03-04-2010

20110199631AUTOGRAPH SYSTEM - Apparatus for use with a plurality of marks and by a user is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a storage facility, an interface facility and a delivery facility. The storage facility, in use, is in receipt of mark data records, each of said mark data records being representative of a respective one of said plurality of marks. The interface facility is adapted to permit said user to identify: a selected one of said plurality of marks; and a destination. The delivery facility is adapted to, using the mark data record of the selected mark, deliver a copy of the selected mark to the destination. The destination can be an e-mail address, the copy can be delivered by means of an electronic file and the mark can be a signature.08-18-2011

20090074416Communication Systems - A transmitter transmits signals on multiple channels, and they are wavelength multiplexed according to Coherent WDM. Quality of the received signals is very much enhanced by the transmitter tuning the relative phases of neighbouring channels according to delay characteristics of the optical path. In one example, the transmitter adds a relative delay of ΒΌ bit period between each data signal and the beat frequency signal for the odd and even channel groups, to counter the receiver side delays introduced by the AMZI. This corresponds to aligning the transmitter such that the eye crossing corresponds to a minimum of the 80 GHz beat signal. In order to obtain a stable phase relationship between adjacent channels the 80 GHz tone is set to a particular value. Any harmonics or sub-harmonics will similarly vary with phase and therefore can also be used as an error signal for a phase stabilisation circuit. The phase stabilisation circuit in the transmitter therefore can maintain a desired stable optimum phase alignment between neighbouring channels.03-19-2009

20090069468Process for the preparation of a novel pigmented composition for use in offset inks - The invention pertains to a novel, simpler dry-milling method for comminuting crude pigments (especially crude phthalocyanines) for use in offset inks, wherein a high amount of resin is used, at least part of which is a low molecular phenol-modified rosin, an esterified rosin or a hydrocarbon resin of similar properties, preferably together with an antioxidant, and dry-milling is performed at relatively low temperature. The invention also pertains to the thus obtained, new compositions, which are extraordinarily easily dispersible in hydrocarbon solvents, and their use for the preparation of inks or ink concentrates. Pigment dispersions obtained from the preferred compositions are also claimed.03-12-2009
20090137706Process for preparation of a novel pigmented composition for use in gravure inks - The invention pertains to a novel, simpler dry-milling method for comminuting crude pigments (especially crude phthalocyanines) for use in publication gravure and packaging inks, wherein the crude pigment is dry-milled at relatively low temperature in combination with a resin and a pigment derivative, preferably further together with an extender and optionally an antioxidant. The invention also pertains to the thus obtained, new compositions, which are extraordinarily easily dispersible in aromatic solvents, and their use for the preparation of publication gravure or packaging inks or ink concentrates. Pigment dispersions obtained from the preferred compositions are also claimed.05-28-2009
