20100234962CONSTRAINED PROSTHETIC KNEE WITH ROTATING BEARING - A constrained prosthetic knee having a modular hinge post and a rotating bearing. A cannulated hinge post is rotatably connected to the femoral component of the knee prosthesis so that a hinge post extension may be anteriorly positioned through the hinge post and into the tibial component of the knee prosthesis, after positioning of the femoral component in the femur and the tibial component in the tibia. The hinge post is preassembled to the femoral component so that such assembly is not required during the implantation procedure. A meniscal component forming the rotating bearing of the knee prosthesis is packaged together with the hinge post extension so that the appropriate hinge post extension is readily available. The meniscal component includes a mechanism for preventing lift off of the meniscal component from the tibial component, while allowing rotation of the meniscal component relative to the tibial component.09-16-2010

20120058553Apparatus for Transporting Biological Samples - A container assembly for storing, treating, transporting and stabilizing a biological sample includes a container, a cap and a sample holder removably received in the container. The sample holder can be a platform-like device dimensioned to be supported on a ledge formed in the side wall of the container. The sample holder includes a central cavity for receiving the sample and immersing the sample in the stabilizing agent in the container. In another embodiment, the sample holder has a closure member for closing the open top end of the cavity. The container includes a liquid reagent in an amount sufficient to treat the biological sample. The biological sample is retained in a predetermined containment area of the container to maintain the biological sample immersed in the reagent without regard to the orientation of the container.03-08-2012

20080285019INTERFEROMETRY TESTING OF LENSES, AND SYSTEMS AND DEVICES FOR SAME - Modified MZ (Mach-Zender) interferometers preferably are utilized to analyze the transmitted, aspherical wavefront of an ophthalmic lens by mounting the lens in a cuvette having a rotatable carousel that can hold multiple lenses. Fresh, temperature controlled, saline solution is circulated about the lenses, and the cuvette is positioned in a vertical test arm of the interferometer configuration. Reverse raytracing preferably is utilized to remove aberrations induced into the wavefront as it is imaged from immediately behind the lens to the detector of the interferometer.11-20-2008
20090244478LENSES FOR THE CORRECTION OF PRESBYOPIA AND METHODS OF DESIGNING THE LENSES - The invention provides methods for designing contact lenses and contact lenses designed according to the method, which lenses provide an improved method for presbyopia correction compared to conventional lenses and methods. It is a discovery of the invention that improved performance and reduced design time can be obtained by using lens pairs that act synergistically to provide the lens wearer with good binocularity and consistent performance in near, intermediate and distance vision.10-01-2009
