20100245088METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING THE TIMING OF AN ALARM SIGNAL IN A SECURITY SYSTEM - A security system includes a perimeter sensor configured to cause an alarm signal to be issued after a first period of time upon sensing a security breach. An interior sensor is configured to cause an alarm signal to be issued after a second period of time upon sensing a security breach. The second period of time is shorter than the first period of time. A controller is communicatively coupled to each of the perimeter sensor and the interior sensor. The controller is adapted, in response to the perimeter sensor entering into a fault condition, to reconfigure the interior sensor to cause an alarm signal to be issued after a third period of time upon sensing a security breach. The third period of time is longer than the second period of time.09-30-2010

20110125893Method for recording user experience or performance of a peripheral device - The present invention comprises a system, apparatus, and method for subscribing to indicia related to a user experience or a peripheral device, in an embodiment a broadband wireless modem, recording selected indicia, and forwarding them to a server on a network. The system comprises a server coupled to a plurality of user terminals through a network, to receive a set of indicia, an apparatus for controlling a baseband/broadband processor, and a program product comprising instructions to adapt a central processing unit to perform as follows. In an embodiment, connecting to a broadband/baseband processor comprising issuing commands, subscribing to receive indicia, determining a condition has occurred, recording a plurality of indicia, forwarding a set of indicia to a destination on the network. Indicia includes measurement values, state changes, event occurrences, user actions, activity and inactivity at time stamped milestones, and sequences and combinations of the above.05-26-2011

20090158198PRESENTING SECONDARY MEDIA OBJECTS TO A USER - Systems, methods, computer-readable media, and graphical user interfaces for presenting secondary media objects are provided. A primary media presenting module presents primary media. Upon detecting an indication to initiate the presentation of a secondary media object, the primary media object may be delayed and the secondary media object may be initiated. In embodiments, an indication to initiate the presentation of a secondary media object may comprise a selector hovered over a song title associated with the secondary media object. At a later instance, the primary media object may resume such that it resumes at the point at which the primary media object was delayed. In embodiments, a user may initiate the resuming of the primary media object by removing the selector from the song title.06-18-2009

20110114324MODULAR HYDRAULIC OPERATOR FOR A SUBTERRANEAN TOOL - A modular pressure operated actuator can be coupled with a downhole tool to selectively operate it at least once. In the preferred embodiment the module can be mounted adjacent an isolation valve and after a fixed number of on and off pressure cycles allow a spring to push an actuator to operate the valve to an open position. The actuator, in another embodiment, can be reset with a tool run into the module to move the actuator back against a power spring and hold that spring force until the pressure cycling begins again. The preferred application is for a formation isolation ball valve but other valves, such as sliding sleeves, or other types of downhole tools can be actuated with the module that permits a retrofit of a hydraulic operation to a heretofore purely mechanically actuated tool.05-19-2011

20090101352Water Dissolvable Materials for Activating Inflow Control Devices That Control Flow of Subsurface Fluids - An apparatus for controlling flow of a fluid into a wellbore tubular may include a flow control device controlling the flow of the fluid; and a disintegrating element associated with the flow control device. The flow control device may be actuated when the disintegrating element disintegrates when exposed to the flowing fluid. The disintegrating element may disintegrate upon exposure to water in the fluid. A method for producing fluid from a subterranean formation includes: configuring an element to disintegrate when exposed to a selected fluid; positioning the element in a wellbore; and actuating a flow control device using the element. The element may disintegrate when exposed to water. Actuating the flow control device may restrict a flow of fluid into a wellbore tubular.04-23-2009
20090101354Water Sensing Devices and Methods Utilizing Same to Control Flow of Subsurface Fluids - An apparatus for controlling fluid flow in a wellbore includes a reactive element that reacts when exposed to a fluid and a flow control device configured to control a flow of the fluid. The flow control device may be actuated by a reaction of the reactive element to the fluid. In embodiments, the reactive element reacts by exhibiting a change in a material property. The reaction of the reactive element may be reversible. In embodiments, the reactive element may be a shape memory polymer. The flow control device may include an actuating element operably coupled to the reactive element. The reaction of the reactive element to a given fluid releases the actuating element to actuate the flow control device.04-23-2009
20100288491Subterranean Tubular Cutter with Depth of Cut Feature - A tubular cutter that cuts with extendable and rotating blades has its depth of cut limited upon getting through the tubular to be cut. In a preferred embodiment, the tubular has a loosely mounted member exterior thereto to be engaged by the rotating cutters. When such engagement happens the effect is that the loosely mounted member serves as a cover to the cutters to prevent them from cutting other structures beyond the tubular to be cut. The loosely mounted member is grabbed by the rotating blades for tandem rotation this preventing further cutting action. The load on the mill drops noticeably so that surface personnel have a signal to stop hydraulic pressure to the drive mechanism to allow the blades to retract and the cutter to be removed.11-18-2010
