20100022180VENTILATED WINDOW ARRANGEMENT - A ventilated window arrangement includes a window and a window frame. The window frame includes an outer side and an inner side, an opening from the outer side to the inner side in which the window is mounted, and a ventilator passage extending from the outer side to the inner side. The ventilated window arrangement also includes a ventilator panel attached to the frame and movable from a closed position in which the ventilator panel seals the ventilator passage to an open position in which fluid communication between the outer side and the inner side is permitted.01-28-2010

20080276306Implicit Authentication to Computer Resources and Error Recovery - A method for implicit authorization to a computer resource includes defining a behavioral signature including a plurality of defined computer actions known to an authorized user of the computer resource. A first performed computer action of a user is registered. The first performed computer action is compared with a first defined computer action of the plurality of defined computer actions, wherein, if the first performed computer action and the first defined computer action match, an authentication state is changed from a first authentication state to a second authentication state.11-06-2008
20100174418DISTRIBUTED GRID-INTERACTIVE PHOTOVOLTAIC-BASED POWER DISPATCHING - In one embodiment, each of a plurality of sites may produce surplus power. All or a fraction of the surplus power may be supplied to the power grid according to an agreement between the user of a site and an electric utility. A computer of the utility is in communication with a computer at each of a plurality of sites having a local power source. Terms of power provision that include an amount of power to be provided during a specified time of day is communicated between a site and the utility.07-08-2010
20100298998Dynamic Specification of Power Supply Sources - A method, a system and a computer program product for specifying the source of power and provider of carbon offsets for an electrical device or service. A power supply specification (PSS) utility enables a user or program to specify a preferred blend of power sources and preferred carbon offset provider via a set of programmable requirements and the utility dynamically configures the electrical device or service, based on those requirements. The PSS utility determines the instantaneous power consumption of the device based on the outputs of sensors that measure voltages and currents associated with the operation of the device. The PSS utility compares the device's power consumption with the power from available power generating sources against the set of programmable requirements. When the available power is unable to satisfy the programmable requirements and/or is not sufficient to fully power the device, the PSS utility automatically places the device into a reduced power state. The PSS utility reports information about the device's power consumption to the power supplier.11-25-2010
20100306027Net-Metering In A Power Distribution System - net-metering in a power distribution system that includes a DRG system that is capable of providing power to a local load, an electric utility, and one or more batteries for storage, where net-metering is carried out iteratively during operation of the power distribution system and includes: creating, by a decision control engine, a local load and generation profile for a predefined period of time; deciding, by the decision control engine in accordance with revenue optimizing decision criteria and in dependence upon the local load and generation profile, present and projected utility power purchase prices, and a present state of charge of the batteries, whether to sell or store locally generated power; providing locally generated power to the electric utility if the decision control engine decides to sell locally generated power; and charging batteries with locally generated power if the decision control engine decides to store locally generated power.12-02-2010
20100312412Maintaining Uniform Power Consumption From An Electric Utility By A Local Load In A Power Distribution System - Maintaining uniform power consumption from an electric utility by a local load in a power distribution that includes a distributed renewable generation (‘DRG’) system that is capable of providing power to the utility and batteries for storage, where maintaining uniform power consumption is carried out iteratively and includes monitoring present power consumption of the local load from the electric utility; determining whether the present power consumption is greater than a predefined target power consumption by the local load; if the present power consumption is not greater, storing locally generated power in the batteries; if the present power consumption is greater: calculating in dependence upon present local power generation by the DRG system, the predefined target power consumption, and the present power consumption of the local load, an amount of locally generated power to provide to the electric utility; and providing the amount of locally generated power to the electric utility.12-09-2010
20110010018Load Shedding By An Electric Utility - Load shedding by an electric utility, including querying power distribution systems that include a DRG system for present power consumption of the local load of the power distribution system; selecting, in dependence upon the present power consumption of the local load of the power distribution systems and predefined power consumption criteria for each substation, a substation to receive a reduction in power; and reducing power provided to the selected substation.01-13-2011
20110225016CONSTRAINED RESOURCE MANAGEMENT - Implementation of resource management services is provided. A method includes setting a price, per unit of a resource, for a defined time period and based upon a collective projected resource demand corresponding to resource consumption entities (RCEs). For the duration of the time period, the method includes iteratively performing: monitoring actual usage of the resource for each of the RCEs. If, in response to the monitoring, it is determined that a projected shortage exists for an RCE and a projected surplus exists for another RCE, the method includes re-allocating a number of projected surplus units of the resource from the RCE having the projected surplus to the other RCE having the projected shortage. If, in response to the monitoring, it is determined that a projected shortage exists for an RCE and no projected surplus exists for any of the other RCEs, the method includes acquiring additional units of the resource.09-15-2011

20120042012Determining and Displaying a Count of Unread Items in Content Feeds - A method quantifies unread content items for a stream subscribed to by a user. The stream includes a time-ordered list of content items from two or more content feeds. Each content feed includes a set of content items published by a respective publication source. The method includes determining a count of content items having an unread status in accordance with read state information stored for the user with respect to the stream, and transmitting the count to a client system for display.02-16-2012
