| 20090299714 | DYNAMIC UPDATING OF SIMULATION MODELS - The preferred embodiment of the instant invention preferably takes place in three stages. In the first stage, a determination is made as to which sands (or other reservoir bodies) are in fluid communication with the existing wells, and the disconnected sands are removed from the fine scale geological model. In the second stage, the transmissibilities in the fine scale model are upscaled to the course grid for direct use in the simulation. In the third stage the connected sands only are upscaled and a simulation is carried forward to the point when a new well is to be drilled. The pressure and saturation data are exported to combine with newly connected sands (reservoir bodies), and new pressure and saturation is calculated. The new values are exported in the simulation model and simulation run is continued. | 12-03-2009 |

| 20100000450 | On-line coal flow control mechanism for vertical spindle mills - An improved apparatus for on-line coal flow control in vertical spindle mills comprising a plurality of independently adjustable flow control elements and positioning rods that adjust the positioning of those flow control elements. Each flow control element is positioned within the discharge turret of the vertical spindle mill along the outer wall of the discharge turret proximate the entrance to its corresponding coal outlet pipe. The adjustable rods are seated on the side or top of the discharge turret of the coal pulverizer and are connected to the flow control element horizontally or vertically as the case may be. The flow control elements can be independently rotated by +/−90 degrees about the positioning rod axis, moved back and forth in the horizontal plane, and can also be moved up and down in the vertical plane. Therefore, each flow control element has three degrees-of-freedom: one rotational and two linear displacements. The apparatus improves boiler performance by making it possible to operate the boiler with reduced pollutant levels (e.g. NOx, CO) and increased combustion efficiency. Automated computer control of the control surfaces is contemplated. | 01-07-2010 |

| 20080309823 | METHOD FOR PROCESSING AN IMAGE SEQUENCE HAVING CONSECUTIVE VIDEO IMAGES IN ORDER TO IMPROVE THE SPATIAL RESOLUTION - An image sequence includes consecutive video images each exhibiting at least one image region having a number of pixels, where each pixel includes at least one intensity value. For each image a motion measure value is determined indicative of temporal change of a video content of the image region and varying the intensity values of the pixels of the image region relative to the associated intensity values from video image to video image, a measure for the variation of the intensity values being dependent on the motion measure value determined and the change in the intensity values relative to the associated intensity values being greater the larger the motion represented by the motion measure value. | 12-18-2008 |
