System and Method to Enforce Excessive Engine Idle Control - A system and method for engine idle control enforcement is provided. According to one embodiment, a vehicle is monitored to determine whether it has moved a particular distance over a period of time or is moving at a particular speed. The monitoring can be accomplished using, for example, a GPS capable device. A determination can be made based on the vehicle distance or speed over a period of time as to whether the vehicle is in idle. When a determination is made that the vehicle is idle, an activation of one or more relay switches can occur to kill the engine and/or disable the starter. A park gear signal can be used as a safety mechanism to avoid killing the engine when the vehicle is determined to not be in park. In one embodiment, in order to reengage the vehicle's engine, the turnkey must be moved to the OFF position before turning the ignition ON. | 12-23-2010

WATTHOUR METER SOCKET WITH SECURED ACCESS HIGH VOLTAGE SECTION - An electrical watthour meter socket includes a first sub-enclosure receiving high voltage components and a second sub-enclosure receiving lower voltage components. The first and second sub-enclosures are electrically isolated from each other access control components to allow independent access to lower voltage components in the second sub-enclosure without the use of personal protective equipment required for exposure to components carrying high voltage. | 05-27-2010

UTILITY METER TAMPER MONITORING SYSTEM AND METHOD - A method includes activating a tamper monitoring circuit of a security seal configured to securely lock a utility meter. The method also includes wirelessly transmitting an identification data and/or an integrity information associated with the security seal and/or the utility meter to the external transceiver upon activating the tamper monitoring circuit or being queried by the external transceiver through a transceiver of the tamper monitoring circuit. The transceiver of the tamper monitoring circuit and the external transceiver are configured to securely communicate with each other through a secure protocol. Further, the method includes detecting a tamper condition associated with tampering of the security seal through the tamper monitoring circuit, and wirelessly transmitting data associated with the tamper condition to the external transceiver. | 08-11-2011

Devices and Methods for Defined Orientation of an Eye - The present solution is directed to the orientation of an eye for diagnostic and/or therapeutic purposes, wherein the line of sight need not coincide with the optical axis of the examination apparatus or treatment apparatus. The invention includes a fixating light source for generating a positionable fixating mark, a device for coupling this fixating mark into a beam path of an ophthalmological apparatus whose imaging optics project the fixating mark on the eye to be examined and/or treated, and a control unit by which the image of the fixating mark can be displayed at different distances and angular positions with respect to the optical axis of the ophthalmological apparatus so that the eye to be examined and/or treated is oriented to this fixating mark by foveal focusing and occupies a defined position with respect to the optical axis of the ophthalmological apparatus. | 03-19-2009
OPTICAL SYSTEM FOR A FUNDUS CAMERA - The invention is directed to an optical system for a fundus camera in which lens pairs are tilted relative to the imaging beam path to prevent flare. This tilting is carried out in two planes and these planes are preferably oriented perpendicular to one another. | 07-02-2009
MULTIPLE-SPOT LASER REFRACTIVE OPHTHALMIC SURGERY - An apparatus for material processing by laser radiation, including a laser source which emits a processing beam, and a beam path for focusing and scanning, the beam path focusing the processing beam into a processing volume and shifting the position of the focus therein. A beam splitting device generates several foci in the processing volume and the beam splitting device splits the processing beam up into a primary beam and at least one secondary beam and leaves the cross section of the beam in a pupil plane of the beam path unchanged during said division and introduces an angle of separation between the primary and secondary beams, so that these beams expand in the beam path in directions which differ by the angle of separation. | 06-03-2010
MICROSCOPE HAVING INTERNAL FOCUSING - The invention relates to a laser scanning microscope with a scanner and a microscope objective, and to a control method for such a microscope. In order to obtain sharp imaging of the sample in a laser scanning microscope, the distance between the microscope objective and the sample is usually varied for adjusting the focus position. However, relative movements between the objective and the sample can be problematic. In view of the costly special objective, internal focusing of the objective is a disadvantageous solution. An improved laser scanning microscope should make it possible to sharply image a sample with standard objectives without relative movement between the microscope objective and sample. According to the invention, a tube lens is provided which is displaceable along the optical axis, and the focus position is adjustable relative to a front optical element of the microscope objective by adjusting the tube lens. | 08-26-2010
