20130305862 | Transmission with integrated PTO input gear damper - A power take-off unit (“PTO”) may include a damper to reduce noise while the PTO is operating at low torque or at low RPM. The damper may also be located in the transmission before the PTO driver gear. A method may be used to systematically measure the frequency and/or amplitude of the vibrations that cause noise and to adjust the damping constant of a damper to reduce the noise. | 11-21-2013 |
20140026690 | PTO WITH INTEGRATED RETARDER - A power take-off unit (“PTO”) may include a retarder to reduce noise while the transmission PTO output gear is operating at low torque. The retarder may variably load the PTO based on the PTO output load, while disengaging from the PTO while the PTO is not operational. The retarder may also serve as a primary retarder function to slow a vehicle's speed. The retarder may be controlled by a vehicle operator or by a processor. | 01-30-2014 |

20120031936 | Backpack Frame - A backpack and frame are disclosed. The backpack frame is designed to be at least partially internal and is of unitary construction, most advantageously of a resin-impregnated material, such as resin-impregnated carbon fiber sheets with selective reinforcement by interstitial layers. The frame has a mid-back portion that includes openings for independently positionable shoulder straps and a lower back portion that provides for a rotatable connection to a belt assembly. A pair of curved stay portions is contiguous with the mid-back portion of the frame and curves outwardly as the stay portions extend downwardly. The frame is preferably curved to match the curvature of the human back. The backpack frame is lightweight and by use of composite materials can provide strength as well as selective flexibility to suspend the load of the backpack and decouple it from the movements of the wearer. | 02-09-2012 |
20130001268 | Methods for Making a Composite Backpack Frame - A backpack and frame are disclosed, as are methods of making the frame using composite materials and compression molding. The backpack frame is designed to be at least partially internal and is of unitary construction using a resin-impregnated material, such as resin-impregnated carbon fiber sheets with selective reinforcement by interstitial layers. | 01-03-2013 |
20130221051 | Unitary Composite Backpack Frame with Upper Stays - Resin-impregnated sandwich composite backpack frames are disclosed. The frames may, for example, be made of a carbon fiber twill with a foam core. The frames have an upper portion that includes upwardly-extending, elongate stays to support a backpack and mechanically decouple its load from the wearer. Open, generally vertically extending tracks in the upper portion provide points of attachment for shoulder strap assemblies. The lower portion is contoured to follow the typical lumbar-sacral curvature of the human back and terminates in a generally U-shaped tongue. Openings and unreinforced areas in the frame are provided to reduce weight and increase flexibility. | 08-29-2013 |

20120012217 | CURED IN PLACE LINER SYSTEM AND INSTALLATION METHODS - A cured in place liner system and associated connections and methods are disclosed. The cured in place pipe system forms a completely rehabilitated, stand-alone, fluid-tight flow path between upstream and downstream portions of an existing pipe system. The rehabilitated flow path is stand-alone in that the liner system does not rely on structure of the portion of the pipe system through which the liner system is installed to define the fluid-tight flow path. The flow path between upstream and downstream portions of the liner system is defined by and made fluid-tight solely by components of the rehabilitation system such as cured in place liners and couplers. The portion of the pipe system through which the rehabilitation system is installed merely provides a path (e.g., through the ground) through which the cured in place liner system can be inserted. After the cured in place liner system is installed, the liner system forms a fluid-tight flow path between an upstream portion of the pipe system and a downstream portion of the pipe system. Various types of connections may be used. In addition, various types of methods may be used in forming the connections, such as using a mold to cure connecting sections of the cured in place liners in desired configurations (e.g., having a generally circular outer profile) for forming connections with the liners. | 01-19-2012 |

20140354976 | APPARATUS AND SYSTEM FOR CHARACTERIZING AN AEROSOL PARTICLE FLOW - An apparatus and method for improving aerosol particle characterization and detection accuracy in clean room applications that includes an optical particle sizer that receives a particle containing aerosol sample at a higher flow rate which is operatively coupled to an inertial aerosol concentrator for concentrating particles received from the optical particle sizer and delivering a lower flow rate, particle enriched output. The system further includes an optical sensor for sensing of intrinsic particle fluorescence of the lower, particle-enriched flow, since intrinsic fluorescence is a useful indicator of biological particles and biological particle viability, including bacterial particles. The system as a whole provides a measure derived from a single inlet flow both of total particles and of viable microbial particles based on their spectroscopic properties. | 12-04-2014 |

20150297141 | METHOD FOR IMPROVING THE SIGNAL TO NOISE RATIO OF A WAVE FORM - A method for improving the signal to noise ratio of an EEG signal in which a wavelet packet decomposition having a plurality of levels is first applied to a time slice of the EEG signal. A default signal is set to the first wavelet packet and a default peak response is then calculated for the first wavelet node. An update signal is set to the default signal combined with another of the wavelet nodes and an update peak response signal is then calculated of the update signal. If the update peak response signal exceeds the default peak response, the default peak response is set equal to the update peak response and the default signal is set equal to the update signal. Otherwise, the value of the current node is set to zero which effectively eliminates the signal data of the current wavelet node. These steps are reiterated for all of the wavelet nodes and, thereafter, a composite waveform of the EEG signal is reconstructed from the non-zero wavelet nodes. | 10-22-2015 |
