20100017331METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ORDERING GOODS, SERVICES AND CONTENT OVER AN INTERNETWORK - A billing system that allows a consumer to order products from computers connected to the Internet, wherein the consumer is automatically billed for the ordered product by its telephone service provider. When a product is ordered over the Internet, a plug-in component of the consumer's computer establishes an Internet connection to a billing server. A billing server component transfers an encrypted version of the product to the plug-in component. The plug-in component then disconnects from the Internet and establishes a point-to-point (PPP) connection with the billing server. During the PPP connection, the billing server component transfers an access key assigned to the order to the plug-in component so that the plug-in component may decrypt the product. The consumer is charged a unit rate or “drop-charge” for the product by the telephone service provider using a premium telephone number assigned and administered by the telephone service provider.01-21-2010

20080209068Out-of-band keep-alive mechanism for clients associated with network address translation systems - Architecture for maintaining connection state of network address translation (NAT) devices by employing an out-of-band (OOB) technique externally to application connections without imposing additional requirements on the underlying native application(s). The OOB solution can be applied to arbitrary connections without requiring modification to an application protocol and works with TCP and UDP. A keep-alive (KA) application is employed as an OOB mechanism that injects KA packets that appear to the NAT device to be coming from the native connection. These injected packets fool the NAT device into resetting the inactivity timer for that connection, but do not fool or confuse the native application, which is oblivious to the spoofing. Accordingly, the connection will not terminate due to NAT timeouts, and therefore, a client/server protocol, for example, will not need to generate fake activity packets to keep the connection alive.08-28-2008
20090204701NODE MONITOR CLIENT CACHE SYNCHRONIZATION FOR MOBILE DEVICE MANAGEMENT - A stateful cache layer is created at a mobile device client that tracks the state on both the mobile device and management service. The states are synchronized between the mobile device and the management service on every management session. Through the statefulness of the cache layer, unauthorized changes on the mobile device are detected and accordingly handled such as internal correction or reporting to the management service for actionable instructions. A cache layer on the management server is configured to identify organizational policy changes that affect specific devices and initiate unsolicited immediate management sessions to update the configuration to the specific devices.08-13-2009

20120104742GAME TICKET - A lottery ticket is formed by a substrate sheet material on which is printed game and other indicia with some or all of the game indicia being covered by a scratch-off material removable by the player. A ticket viewing device in the form of a flat panel defining glasses may be contained in a pocket formed on one side of the sheet or they can be supplied separate from the ticket. The glasses are used by the player for viewing the ticket with at least some of the indicia being printed in a manner which cooperates with the ticket viewing device so that the indicia are visible to the player in a three dimensional format. The pocket can be formed an attached layer of a different material for example of transparent plastic or the pocket can be formed by folding one edge of the substrate.05-03-2012

20100042276METHOD FOR MONITORING MULTI-MOTOR DRIVE - A method for controlling a vehicle drive unit, which comprises at least two individual drives, at least one of which is able to provide a negative torque. A vehicle control unit is provided, within which a continuous torque comparison is performed within a monitoring level. A permissible torque is ascertained therein. Using a torque range checker it is established whether ascertained setpoint torques lie within torque ranges of the at least two individual drives.02-18-2010

20110131121Refinancing Program for an Underwater Loan - A refinancing program for an underwater loan is disclosed. In particular embodiments, a method for refinancing a loan includes determining an original loan value, wherein the original loan value is associated with an original loan secured by a property having a current property value that is less than the original loan value. The method also includes calculating, with a processor, a conforming loan value based, at least in part, on the current property value, wherein the conforming loan value is associated with a conforming loan and the conforming loan value is less than the current property value. The method also includes calculating a shared appreciation mortgage (SAM) loan value based on a numerical difference between the conforming loan value and the original loan value.06-02-2011

20080308213APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR SPLICING AN ELONGATE MULTI-LAYERED WORKPIECE - An apparatus for splicing an elongate multi-layered workpiece includes: (a) drives and guides cooperating to drive the workpiece along a working path; (b) a cutter for severing the workpiece; (c) a layer manipulator for separating layers; (d) an applicator for applying adhesive; and (e) a deflector unit for deflecting the workpiece from the working path. The cutter effects the severing to present first and second workpiece segments. The layer manipulator effects inter-layer separation in one segment to present an interlayer zone in the one segment. A drive inserts the other segment in the interlayer zone. The layer manipulator urges the layers together to capture the other segment within the interlayer zone to establish a multi-layer structure. A drive and at least one of the workpiece deflector unit and the applicator situate the multi-layer structure adjacent to the applicator for finishing the splicing by applying adhesive to the multi-layer structure.12-18-2008
