20090284366SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING POSITIONING INFORMATION VIA MODULATED LIGHT - Light sources are affixed at appropriate positions in a multilevel structure or in an obstructed environment. The light sources generate modulated light signals, such as controlled light-emitting diodes, which identify the positions of the light sources by their three-dimensional global positioning coordinates and/or equivalent representation that specifies their in situ locations in the environment. Mobile communication devices, upon receiving the light signals, can derive spatial positioning information and transmit such information to a remote location, such as an emergency response system.11-19-2009

20100277304WAKE-UP SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AN ELECTRONIC APPARATUS - An electronic device may include a wireless transceiver for establishing a wireless interface with a wireless transceiver of another device. The electronic device may further include a wake-up assembly including a permanent magnet that generates a magnet field and a sensor that outputs a signal corresponding to sensed magnetic field. A control assembly of the electronic device may be configured to control at least one of activation or deactivation of the wireless transceiver when the output from the sensor indicates that the magnetic field of the permanent magnet has been disturbed by presence of a magnet external to the electronic device.11-04-2010
20100329175Mobile assisted relay selection in a telecommunications system - A mobile station is operated in a telecommunications system that includes a base station and one or more relay stations. The mobile station communicates directly with the base station via a first channel. To facilitate selection of a suitable relay station, the mobile station broadcasts a burst for receipt by a plurality of relay stations. Relay stations each measure a quality of the received burst and communicate this information to the base station, which uses the information to select a most suitable one of the relay stations for use in carrying on indirect communications between the base station and the mobile station.12-30-2010

20090161599METHOD, USER EQUIPMENT AND RADIO BASE STATION FOR RANDOM ACCESS IN A CELLULAR TELECOMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION - The present invention relates to a random access process in a cellular communications system and to a user equipment (UE) and a NodeB adapted for performing the process. A problem with the random access is that the time slot for receiving a random access request (RA-request) has a long unused guard portion. When the UE transmits the RA-request, the distance to the receiving NodeB is unknown, and the purpose of the guard portion is to accommodate for propagation delay. The disadvantage is the inefficient use of the random access channel which results in long delays for UEs to access the network. The present invention solves the problem with a method in which the UE position is determined and the distance and propagation delay between the UE and NodeB is calculated before the transmission of the RA-request, and the timing of the transmission is advanced by the propagation delay.06-25-2009

The transmitter is configured to transmit a signal having at least one channel, where the signal may include a reference signal, an information signal and a frequency offset between the reference signal and the information signal. The receiver may receive the transmitted signal from the transmitter and mix the received signal in order to retrieve the information signal from the received signal. This allows the receiver to operate at low power (e.g., 10 uW-100 uW).01-13-2011
