20110300589Novel Microbial Succinic Acid Producers and Purification of Succinic Acid - The present invention relates to bacterial strains, capable of utilizing glycerol as a carbon source for the fermentative production of succinic acid, wherein said strains are genetically modified so that they comprise a deregulation of their endogenous pyruvate-formate-lyase enzyme activity, as well as to methods of producing organic acids, in particular succinic acid, by making use of such microorganism. The present invention also relates to the downstream processing of the produced organic acids by cation exchange chromatography.12-08-2011

20090245334WALL CLOCK TIMER AND SYSTEM FOR GENERIC MODEM - A modem (for example, a modem within a cellular telephone) includes a plurality of Wireless Communication System Modem Sub-Circuits (WCSMSCs). Each WCSMSC receives a control signal generated by a corresponding one of a plurality of programmable timers. Each timer receives the same sequence of count values from a wall clock counter. A processor that controls overall modem operation can program a timer to generate a control pulse at a particular count time of the wall clock counter. The processor can also program a timer to generate a periodic control signal. The control signals output from the timers orchestrate when the various WCSMSCs start operating in the processing of a frame. By virtue of the programmability of the timers, the wall clock timer system is programmable to generate customized control signals such that frames of new and different protocols having arbitrary frame structures can be processed by the same modem/timer system.10-01-2009
20090248920Off-Line Task List Architecture - A flexible and reconfigurable digital system (for example, a wireless modem) includes a set of sub-circuits. Each sub-circuit includes a task manager and an amount of configurable hardware circuitry for performing a type of operation on a data stream. The task manager of a sub-circuit can configure and control the configurable hardware of the sub-circuit. A central processor configures and orchestrates operation of the sub-circuits by maintaining a set of task lists in a tightly coupled memory. Each task list includes task instructions for a corresponding sub-circuit. The task manager of a sub-circuit reads task instructions from its task list and controls its associated hardware circuitry as directed by the instructions. A timestamp task instruction and a push task instruction and the task list architecture allow modem sub-circuits to be easily reconfigured to operate in accordance with either a first air interface standard or a second air interface standard.10-01-2009
20100077187System and Method to Execute a Linear Feedback-Shift Instruction - A system and method to execute a linear feedback-shift instruction is disclosed. In a particular embodiment the method includes executing an instruction at a processor by receiving source data and executing a bitwise logical operation on the source data and on reference data to generate intermediate data. The method further includes determining a parity value of the intermediate data, shifting the source data, and entering the parity value of the intermediate data into a data field of the shifted source data to produce resultant data.03-25-2010
20100095189METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR MODIFIED MAXIMUM-LIKELIHOOD BASED TBCC DECODING - A method and apparatus for decoding of tailbiting convolutional codes (TBCC) are disclosed. The proposed modified maximum-likelihood TBCC decoding technique preserves error correction performance of optimal maximum-likelihood based TBCC decoding, while the computational complexity is substantially decreased since a reduced number of decoding states has been evaluated. Compare to other sub-optimal TBCC decoding algorithms, modified maximum-likelihood TBCC decoding achieves improved packet error rate performance with similar computational complexity.04-15-2010
20100265934METHODS AND SYSTEMS USING FAST INITIAL SYNCHRONIZATION FOR WIMAX MOBILE STATIONS - Certain embodiments of the present disclosure provide techniques for bypassing the DCD/UCD message reception step in the network entry procedure in WiMAX systems by using DCD/UCD messages that are stored in a nonvolatile memory inside a mobile station.10-21-2010

20100322117METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR INITIAL ACQUISITION IN A COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - Disclosed are methods and apparatus for initial acquisition in a communication system, and in particular Time Division Duplex (TDD) systems such as those found in LTE. A disclosed method, for example, includes running a plurality of predetermined amplifier gain states for a low noise amplifier (LNA) during initial acquisition in a time division duplex (TDD) system, and determining acquisition of a received signal based on searching across the plurality of predetermined amplifier gain states. Forcing the amplifier gain into a set of predetermined gain states affords quicker resolution of initial acquisition for setting the gain of the LNA, which in TDD systems is complicated due to an uncertain uplink/downlink timeline that precludes continuous operation of a gain setting algorithm run in the LNA.12-23-2010
20110149943TIME TRACKING LOOPS FOR A COMMUNICATION SYSTEM UTILIZING A CYCLIC PREFIX - Techniques for performing time tracking in a communication system utilizing a cyclic prefix are described. In an aspect, a receiver may detect for large timing errors based on early and late received samples obtained with early and late FFT windows, respectively. The receiver may derive first and second channel impulse response (CIR) estimates based on the early and late received samples, respectively, determine an early channel energy based on the first CIR estimate, determine a late channel energy based on the second CIR estimate, compute an update amount based on the early and late channel energies, and update the FFT window position based on the update amount. In another aspect, the receiver may perform time tracking with an inner time tracking loop (TTL) and an outer TTL. The receiver may update the FFT window position in coarse steps with the outer TTL and in fine steps with the inner TTL.06-23-2011

20090327667System and Method to Perform Fast Rotation Operations - Systems and methods to perform fast rotation operations are disclosed. In a particular embodiment, a method includes executing a single instruction. The method includes receiving first data indicating a first coordinate and a second coordinate, receiving a first control value that indicates a first rotation value selected from a set of ninety degree multiples, and writing output data corresponding to the first data rotated by the first rotation value.12-31-2009
