20110030161PAINT ROLLER AND PAINT ROLLER SLEEVE SUPPORT - The present invention concerns a paint roller comprising a frame having a handle portion and a shaft, a sleeve support rotatably mounted on the shaft for receiving a roller sleeve, and a locking mechanism moveable between a first position in which a paint roller sleeve can be slid over the said support and a second position in which a part of the mechanism is urged against the inside wall of a roller sleeve mounted on the said support in use, whereby to lock the roller sleeve to the frame. The locking mechanism preferably comprises at least one locking element, preferably a resilient element, and first and second axially movable parts which are movable relative to each other to cause the locking element to be urged outwards against the inside wall of a roller sleeve mounted on the support.02-10-2011

20080276942Re-Breather Apparatus With Vaned Filtering Canister - A breathing apparatus having a source of oxygen and a mouthpiece, which includes an inlet connected through a first one-way valve to receive inhaled gas, and an outlet having a second one-way valve to expel exhaled gas from a user. A scrubber canister is coupled to the mouthpiece and receives the output of the mouthpiece through the second one-way valve. The scrubber canister removes at least a portion of carbon dioxide from the exhaled gas from the user, and outputs carbon dioxide depleted gas. The scrubber canister has an inner canister and an outer canister and a plurality of vanes disposed between the inner canister and the outer canister. The vanes increase the dwell time of gas in the canister, thereby increasing the amount of carbon dioxide removed from the gas. Such construction can be implemented in rebreathers having radial, axial or cross-flow designs.11-13-2008

20080265793APPARATUS AND METHOD TO PROVIDE A HYBRID LINEAR/SWITCHING CURRENT SOURCE, SUCH AS FOR HIGH-EFFICIENCY, WIDE DIMMING RANGE LIGHT EMITTING DIODE (LED) BACKLIGHTING - A hybrid power supply provides powers to a load, such as a light emitting diode (LED) backlight display, using pulse wave modulation (PWM) enable signal to control activation of a linear power supply and a switching power supply. During an initial part of an active portion of a duty cycle of the PWM enable signal, the linear power supply is activated to supply the load with constant current. During the remainder of the active portion of the duty cycle of the PWM enable signal, the linear power supply is deactivated and the switching power supply is activated to provide current to the load. A bias current and voltage may be provided to the LED during an inactive portion of the duty cycle of the PWM enable signal. The hybrid power supply combines the high efficiency of the switching power supply with smooth dimming control at low luminance of the linear power supply.10-30-2008
20080265865SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ADAPTIVELY DETERMINING THE TRANSITION RATE OF A QUANTIZED SIGNAL - An adaptive measurement system measures a transition rate associated with an output of a device. An input signal that is characteristic of the output of the device is received by an input signal-to-frequency converter, which changes state based upon a characteristic of the input signal. The input signal-to-frequency converter provides a second signal, which reflects the state changes of the input signal-to-frequency converter. The second signal is sampled over a sample period and an instance of average transition rate is determined. A control subsystem may use the instance of average transition rate for regulating the device.10-30-2008
