20100138410CLICK CHAIN MODEL - Techniques are described for generating a statistical model from observed click chains. The model can be used to compute a probability that a document is relevant to a given search query. With the model, a probability of a user examining a given document in a given search result conditionally depends on: a probability that a preceding document in the given search result is examined by a user viewing the given search result; a probability that the preceding document is clicked on by a user viewing the given search result, which conditionally depends directly on the probability that the preceding document is examined and on a probability of relevance of the preceding document.06-03-2010

20080200422Methods for reduction of adipose tissue mass - The present disclosure relates to diets, compounds, e.g., GCN2 agonists and methods that selectively reduce adipose tissue mass relative to the mass of other tissue types and increase insulin sensitivity. Another aspect of the disclosure relates to methods for identifying GCN2 agonists that will decrease the activity and/or expression of one or more of adipogenic genes thereby selectively inhibiting the cellular mechanisms that lead to fat production. Such agonists have the effect of reducing adipose tissue mass in an individual.08-21-2008

20100249453Removing hydrocarbon impurities from acetic acid production intermediate - A method for removing hydrocarbon impurities from an acetic acid production intermediate is disclosed. The method comprises extracting the intermediate with a hydrocarbon extracting agent. The extraction is preferably performed with the alkane distillation bottom stream which comprises methyl iodide, acetic acid, and hydrocarbon impurities. The extraction forms a light phase which comprises the hydrocarbon impurity and the extracting agent and a heavy phase which comprises methyl iodide and acetic acid. The extraction heavy phase is optionally recycled to the alkane distillation or to the carbonylation reaction.09-30-2010

20080308411METHOD AND PROCESS FOR DEPOSITION OF TEXTURED ZINC OXIDE THIN FILMS - A method for sputtering a textured zinc oxide coating onto a substrate by reactive-environment hollow cathode sputtering comprises providing a sputter reactor that has a cathode channel and a flow exit end. The cathode channel allows a gas stream to flow therein. This cathode channel is at least partially defined by a channel-defining surface that includes at least one zinc-containing target. A gas is flowed through the channel, such that the gas emerges from the flow exit. A plasma is then generated such that material is sputtered off the channel-defining surface to form a gaseous mixture containing zinc atoms that is transported to the substrate. A reactive gas is then introduced into the sputter reactor so that the reactive gas reacts with the zinc-containing gaseous mixture to form the textured zinc oxide coating.12-18-2008

20110148251SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR OPERATING PIEZOELECTRIC SWITCHES - Systems and methods for operating piezoelectric switches are disclosed. A piezoelectric switching system includes a first actuator, a second actuator, and a bias voltage source. The first actuator has a first body electrode, a first gate electrode, and a first contact region. The second actuator has a second body electrode, a second gate electrode, and a second contact region. The first and second contact regions are separated by a gap. The bias voltage source applies a bias voltage to the body electrodes. The bias voltage is lower in magnitude than an actuation voltage for the switch. The gate electrodes receive a switching voltage. The switching voltage causes at least one of the first and second actuators to bend, thereby closing the gap such that the second contact region electrically contacts the first contact region. The difference between the switching voltage and the bias voltage exceeds the actuation voltage of the switch.06-23-2011
