20130339592 | APPROACH TO VIRTUAL BANK MANAGEMENT IN DRAM CONTROLLERS - Banks within a dynamic random access memory (DRAM) are managed with virtual bank managers. A DRAM controller receives a new memory access request to DRAM including a plurality of banks. If the request accesses a location in DRAM where no virtual bank manager includes parameters for the corresponding DRAM page, then a virtual bank manager is allocated to the physical bank associated with the DRAM page. The bank manager is initialized to include parameters needed by the DRAM controller to access the DRAM page. The memory access request is then processed using the parameters associated with the virtual bank manager. One advantage of the disclosed technique is that the banks of a DRAM module are controlled with fewer bank managers than in previous DRAM controller designs. As a result, less surface area on the DRAM controller circuit is dedicated to bank managers. | 12-19-2013 |
20140160876 | ADDRESS BIT REMAPPING SCHEME TO REDUCE ACCESS GRANULARITY OF DRAM ACCESSES - One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a method for accessing non-contiguous locations within a DRAM memory page by sending a first column address command to a first DRAM device using a first subset of pins and sending a second column address command to a second DRAM device using a second subset of repurposed pins. One advantage of the disclosed technique is that it requires minimal additional pins, space, and power consumption. Further, sending multiple column address commands allows for increased granularity of DRAM accesses and therefore more efficient use of pins. Thus, the disclosed technique provides a better approach for accessing non-contiguous locations within a DRAM memory page. | 06-12-2014 |

20120314589 | MEASUREMENT SCHEDULING IN CELL_FACH (FORWARD ACCESS CHANNEL) AND CELL_DCH (DEDICATED CHANNEL) STATES BACKGROUND - Methods and apparatus are provided for operating in a first RAN at a working frequency, determining a priority of measurement tasks enabled by the first RAN, and dynamically scheduling the tasks according to the priority. For certain aspects, the first RAN may be a TD-SCDMA network. The measurement tasks are intended to measure at least one parameter of a serving cell in the first RAN on a primary frequency, at least one cell in the first RAN on at least one frequency other than the primary frequency, one or more cells in at least one RAN other than the first RAN (e.g., a GSM network) or any combination thereof. This dynamic assignment allows the UE to make scheduling decisions on which frequencies and RANs to measure, as well as how often these frequencies and RANs are measured, thereby providing for more efficient use of idle slots over conventional haphazard scheduling. | 12-13-2012 |
20130010780 | FAST TIMING ACQUISITION IN CELL SEARCH - Timing acquisition may be performed without typical correlation computations by determining a power of a received signal at certain points in time and using the determined power to identify gaps in the received signal. By determining gaps in the received signal, frame timing may be estimated, particularly in time-division networks where the location of guard periods within a frame is known. Gap detection may thus be used for timing acquisition. | 01-10-2013 |

20150327020 | METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR IDENTIFYING SUBSCRIBER STATION MOBILITY - Methods and apparatus for identifying a subscriber station which is in motion, determining a mobility metric indicative of a level of mobility of the subscriber station and varying or updating one or more operating parameters based on the mobility metric. An apparatus can determine a measure of mobility based on one or a combination of a plurality of factors, such as variations in signal strength, variations in a channel estimate, or variations in phase or frequency of a particular signal or signal component. The one or more measures of mobility can be combined to form a single measure of mobility, the measure of mobility can be quantized to a predetermined number of mobility levels and one or more operating parameters can be varied or adjusted based on the mobility level. | 11-12-2015 |
