20080218891Magnetic recording device with an integrated microelectronic device - A system includes a magnetic recording device and a circuit including at least one active semiconductor component. The circuit is formed on the magnetic recording device and generates an output associated with operation of the magnetic recording device.09-11-2008
20100123534MAGNETIC MECHANICAL SWITCH - A method and apparatus for managing data, particularly in regard to non-volatile memory cells. In some embodiments, at least two actuating conductors are at least partially surrounded by a main ferromagnetic core and an adjacent hard magnet. When current is conducted through the actuating conductors, a flexible beam is induced to traverse a first air gap that defines a high resistance position and a low resistance position.05-20-2010
20100296194TRANSDUCING HEAD DESIGN FOR MICROWAVE ASSISTED MAGNETIC RECORDING - A magnetic writer includes a write element having a write element tip and a conductive structure adjacent the write element. The conductive structure includes two conductive elements positioned substantially parallel to one another and separated by an electrically insulating material. Each of the conductive elements carries a time-varying signal to generate an oscillating magnetic field from a displacement current between the two conductive elements, with the oscillating magnetic field being proximate the write element tip and extending parallel to the air bearing surface. A frequency of the oscillating magnetic field is a function of a frequency of the time-varying signal.11-25-2010
20100329091DELAY LINE ON A MOVABLE SUBSTRATE ACCESSING DATA STORAGE MEDIA - An apparatus includes a read/write head disposed on a slider, a control circuit disposed on the slider, and an adjustable delay line disposed on the slider. The adjustable delay line delays transmission of aligned write data to the read/write head by an adjustable delay. The adjustable delay is controlled by the control circuit a function of read synchronization data provided by the read/write head.12-30-2010
20110102930WAVEFORM BASED BIT DETECTION FOR BIT PATTERNED MEDIA - The presently disclosed technology teaches a transducer head with a read sensor, a write pole, and one or more waveform sensors attached to the transducer head. Further, a waveform propagates in the direction of a BPM and the waveform sensor is configured to detect the waveform after it is reflected from the BPM. Additionally, a spin-polarized current is influenced by the BPM and a spin angular momentum sensor detects changes in spin angular momentum of the current. Further, a processor relates at least one property of the reflected waveform and/or current with positions of patterned bits on the BPM. The processor may then modify a timing signal and/or transducer head position to ensure that data bits are accurately written to the BPM. The end result is the ability to more quickly and accurately detect the patterned bits and synchronize a position of the transducer head with the patterned bits.05-05-2011
20110116193MAGNETIC HEAD WITH INTEGRATED WRITE DRIVER - An apparatus comprises a slider body, a transducer and a write driver. The transducer comprises a writer. The write driver is integrated on the slider body, and directly connected to the writer.05-19-2011
20110116195MAGNETIC WRITE HEAD DESIGN USING PERMANENT MAGNETS AND EXCHANGE SPRING MECHANISM - A magnetic recording head includes a write pole and a first permanent magnet. The write pole has a write pole tip, a leading edge, a trailing edge, a first side and a second side. The first permanent magnet is located either at the trailing edge of the write pole, the first side of the write pole or at the second side of the write pole. The first permanent magnet has a magnetization orientation that is changed in relation to a field of the write pole.05-19-2011
20120063031Tranducing head writer having write pole bridge feature, and devices thereof - A transducing head writer comprising a write pole having write pole tip, a yoke disposed on the write pole at a location that is recessed from the write pole tip, and a bridge feature disposed on the write pole between the yoke and the write pole tip, where the bridge feature has a geometry that is larger at a recessed end adjacent to the yoke compared to a proximate end adjacent to the write pole tip.03-15-2012

20100284102MAGNETIC RECORDING DEVICE WITH AN INTEGRATED MICROELECTRONIC DEVICE - A system includes a magnetic recording device and a circuit including at least one active semiconductor component. The circuit is formed on the magnetic recording device and generates an output associated with operation of the magnetic recording device.11-11-2010
20110080670ON HEAD MICROELECTRONICS FOR WRITE SYNCHRONIZATION - The presently disclosed technology teaches integrating disc drive electronics into a transducer head. Decreased electrical transit times and data processing times can be achieved by placing the electronics on or within the transducer head because electrical connections may be made physically shorter than in conventional systems. The electronics may include one or more of a control system circuit, a write driver, and/or a data buffer. The control system circuit generates a modified clock signal that has a fixed relation to phase and frequency of a bit-detected reference signal that corresponds to positions of patterned bits on the disc. The write driver writes outgoing data bits received from an external connection to off-head electronics directly to the writer synchronized with the modified clock signal. The data buffer stores and converts digital data bits sent from the off-head electronics to an analog signal that is synchronized with the modified clock signal.04-07-2011
