20100041770POLYMER-CERAMIC COMPOSITE AND METHOD - Methods and devices are shown for a composite material that is easily applied to a surface such as a bone defect in need of filling or reinforcement, etc. The composite material provides good mechanical properties such as compressive strength upon curing in the presence of water. Selected materials and methods as described are further bioabsorbable with absorption rates that are controllable to provide desired morphology over time. In selected embodiments a pharmaceutical agent further provides benefits such as bone growth, infection resistance, pain management, etc.02-18-2010
20100056654BONE CEMENT WITH ADAPTED MECHANICAL PROPERTIES - A bone cement is shown that includes a monomer, and a non-reactive substance that is fully miscible with the monomer. A resulting cured bone cement exhibits desirable properties such as modification in a stiffness of the material. Modified properties such a stiffness can be tailored to match bone properties and reduce an occurrence of fractures adjacent to a region repaired with bone cement. One example includes adjacent vertebral body fractures in vertebroplasty procedures.03-04-2010
20100119492Method and device for activating stem cells - Invention embodiments described herein include methods and devices for stimulating mesenchymal stem cells in a stem cell source to differentiate into osteoblasts capable of forming bone. Devices and methods described include exposing a stem cell source, such as bone marrow aspirate, adipose tissue and/or purified allogenic stem cells, to an active agent, in a manner effective to form activated stem cells.05-13-2010
20110038912COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR DELIVERY OF GLYCOPEPTIDE ANTIBIOTICS TO MEDICAL DEVICE SURFACES - The presently disclosed subject matter relates to peptides having binding affinity for glycopeptide antibiotics and methods and compositions for delivering glycopeptide antibiotic to the surface of medical devices. The peptide compositions can comprise a peptide having binding affinity for a surface material of a medical device that is coupled to the peptide having binding affinity for glycopeptide antibiotic. Also provided are methods of applying the peptide compositions to a medical device by contacting the peptide compositions with a surface of the medical device. In addition, kits are provided comprising the peptide compositions.02-17-2011

20080262630Drug-Impregnated Encasement - A drug-impregnated sleeve for encasing a medical implant is provided. In one embodiment, the sleeve may include a body made of a biologically-compatible material that defines an internal cavity configured to receive the medical implant. In one embodiment, the biologically-compatible material is bioresorbable. The body may include a plurality of apertures, such as perforations or holes, extending from the cavity through the body. The sleeve may further include a first end, a second end, and a drug impregnated into the resorbable sheet. In one possible embodiment, the first end of the sleeve may be open for receiving the medical implant therethrough and the second end may be closed. The implant may be encased in the sleeve and implanted into a patient from which the drug is dispensed in vivo over time to tissue surrounding the implantation site. In one embodiment, the body is made from at least one sheet of a biologically-compatible material, hi one embodiment, the sleeve may be made in least in part from caprolactone to add stretchability to the sleeve.10-23-2008

20080314916SNAP OVERCAP CLOSURE FOR A CONTAINER - An overcap for a container, which container is of the type having a rim adjacent to an opening in which the rim has an exterior facing top surface, an exterior facing side surface and an exterior facing bottom surface. The overcap includes a center portion having a top surface and a skirt extending downward relative to the top surface. A wall is spaced radially inward from the skirt, defining a channel in one form of the overcap. The wall has an end portion extending downwardly from the center portion. When the overcap is disposed on the container, the end portion engages with the exterior facing top surface of the rim of the container. In one further advantageous form, the overcap skirt has a bead extending radially inward, which engages with the exterior facing side surface of the container when the overcap is disposed on the container.12-25-2008

20100166924FLEXIBLE PACKAGE HAVING MULTIPLE OPENING FEATURE - A flexible package with a multiple-opening feature is suitable for retail sale of food products and is comprised of a film material. The flexible package includes two areas of weakness defining two removable top portions. Removal of the first top portion exposes an opening in the flexible package allowing egress of the product through a first opening. Removal of the second top portion exposes a second opening in the flexible package, which, by one approach, is larger than the first opening and thereby permits increased access to the food product.07-01-2010
