20100212422METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PRE-SPINNING ROTOR FORGINGS - A method and system for relieving forging induced residual stresses in a rotor forging balances a pre-spin machine with the forging mounted thereon at a first rotational speed and then pre-spins the forging with it mounted on the machine at a substantially greater second rotational speed. A one per rev sensor is used for determining a weight placement angle and a vibration sensor is used for determining an amount of weight to add to a spinning assembly including the forging during the balancing. High-density non-metallic balance weights adhesively attached on an inside surface of the forging or spinning assembly may be used. The rotational inertia of the spinning assembly may be checked during a spin up period by determining a rate of rotational acceleration vs. torque applied to the spinning assembly and used to stop the pre-spinning if it is to great.08-26-2010

20120004660Multi-component cortical bone assembled implant - An implant composed substantially of cortical bone is provided for use in cervical Smith-Robinson vertebral fusion procedures. The implant is derived from allograft or autograft cortical bone sources, is machined to form a symmetrically or asymmetrically shaped (e.g. a substantially ā€œDā€-shaped) implant having a canal running therethrough according to methods of this invention, and inserted into the space between adjacent cervical vertebrae to provide support and induce fusion of the adjacent vertebrae. Osteogenic, osteoinductive or osteoconductive materials may be packed into the canal of the implant to expedite vertebral fusion and to allow autologous bony ingrowth.01-05-2012

20080285250PACKAGING ASSEMBLY FOR AN OPTICAL CHIP IN A GYROSCOPIC UNIT - A structural packaging assembly to support a multi-function optic chip or the like is mountable in a gyroscopic unit. An example assembly includes a housing mounted to a mounting plate. The chip is located in the housing, which in turn is coupled to a mounting plate. The housing may have a prescribed section modulus capable of sufficiently withstanding applied vibrations within a predefined vibrational range, such as a vibrational range at or below about 3500 Hz. The structural packaging assembly utilizes a mounting system with mounting feet that clamp to dowels, which in turn have been press fit into the mounting plate. In one embodiment, the mounting feet take the form of ā€œCā€ clamp mechanisms, which after being clamped to the dowels, allow for resonance dampening between the housing and the mounting plate.11-20-2008

20110071916VIRTUAL RELEASE PARTY - A method, apparatus and program product provide a mechanism for distributing recorded content whereby content is sold through a limited channel known as a virtual release party, and a user receives a commission for referring a purchaser to a website that sells the content. The user submits an identifier associated with the referring entity to the website when purchasing the content. The referring entity is thus credited automatically with the purchase of the content.03-24-2011

20090019854APPARATUS/METHOD FOR COOLING COMBUSTION CHAMBER/VENTURI IN A LOW NOx COMBUSTOR - A dry low nitric oxides (NOx) emissions combustor includes a premixing chamber for mixing fuel and cooling gas and a combustion chamber positioned downstream of the premixing chamber for the combustion of pre-mixed fuel and cooling gas. The combustor further includes a venturi having generally annular walls including converging and diverging wall portions that define a constricted portion and positioned between the premixing chamber and the combustion chamber through which the premixed fuel and air pass to the combustion chamber. The walls defining a passage for cooling gas flow extending axially along the combustion chamber and having an exit for flowing cooling gas to the combustion chamber. A plurality of inlets at the converging and diverging wall portions ingest cooling gas into the passage to produce an impingement cooling effect. A plurality of tubulators disposed downstream of the inlets interact with the cooling gas to produce a turbulated cooling effect. The combustor may be effectively fired over a substantial temperature range to reduce the NOx emissions of the combustor.01-22-2009

20120062531System, Method and Apparatus for Wireless Communication Between a Wireless Mobile Telecommunications Device and a Remote Wireless Display - A method and apparatus provide for removal of a display screen from a wireless device, or, in a different embodiment, provide for a display screen as a separate and additional device that functions in real time in the same way as if the screen were incorporated in the wireless device. This functionality is enabled by a short range wireless connection, such as Bluetooth, between transceivers located in the wireless device and the display screen device. The display screen device allows a user to monitor the associated wireless device without needing to operate the full device. The display screen device may also have control capability for controlling the wireless device. Thus, a user can monitor, and control, a mobile device from a smaller remote display device while being presented with the information that would be displayed on the display screen of the wireless device.03-15-2012
