20080289211Method of drying roving products - A system and method of drying wet items including roving packages, cakes and bobbins of wound wet glass fibers and/or wet glass fiber strand(s) by first preheating the wet items using waste hot gases coming from any source including a glass furnace, a dryer or a heat engine operating to generate electrical power prior to removing much, most or all of the moisture in the wet roving packages, cakes and bobbins using a dielectric or microwave oven, to save energy, reduce drying costs and to increase the capacity of dielectric or microwave dryers.11-27-2008
20080289364Method and system for preheating glass batch or ingredient(s) - The invention includes a method and system for heating one or more ingredients of a glass batch or the entire glass batch that is then used to make molten glass using waste hot gases from a system for generating electricity using a drive for an electrical generator that is powered by a heat engine that exhaust waste hot gases having a temperature of at least about 200 degrees C. At least a portion of the electricity generated can be used to power manufacturing plant equipment and the waste hot exhaust gases exhausted by the heat engine, such as a gas turbine, is used in a static or dynamic heat exchanger to heat the entire glass batch or one or more of the ingredients of the glass batch, prior to feeding the glass batch into a glass melting furnace.11-27-2008
20080289788Method of drying mat products - The invention includes a method and system for generating electricity using a drive for the electrical generator that is powered by an engine that uses high pressure hot gases produced by combustion of a fuel and an oxygen bearing gas, using at least a portion of the electricity generated to power manufacturing plant equipment and using the waste hot exhaust gases from the heat engine, such as a gas turbine, with or without a heat exchanger, in an oven in which the mat is carried through continuously on a belt, drum or with other conventional means to dry the wet fibrous mats. Optionally the fibrous mats can contain a binder and the hot waste gases can be optionally used to cure a binder.11-27-2008

20100178481PROTECTIVE COATINGS FOR ORGANIC ELECTRONIC DEVICES MADE USING ATOMIC LAYER DEPOSITION AND MOLECULAR LAYER DEPOSITION TECHNIQUES - Coatings are applied on a flexible substrate using atomic layer deposition and molecular layer deposition methods. The coatings have thickness of up to 100 nanometers. The coatings include layers of an inorganic material such as alumina, which are separated by flexibilizing layers that are deposited with covalent chemical linkage to the inorganic material and which are one or more of silica deposited by an atomic layer deposition process; an organic polymer that is deposited by a molecular layer deposition process, or a hybrid organic-inorganic polymer that is deposited by an molecular layer deposition process.07-15-2010

20080263131Self-Organizing Hive of Computing Engines - A self-organizing hive of computing engines is used to process information. A network communicatively couples multiple of hive engines together. These hive engines are configured to self-organize into a cooperative hive for performing computing of client jobs, with the cooperative hive including a multiple processing regions and a request region. This self-organization includes self-forming the processing regions and the request region by the hive engines such that each of the hive engines belongs to at least one of the processing regions; and wherein each the request region includes multiple of the plurality of hive engines.10-23-2008

20090192019FOUNDATION BRAKE HILL START AIDE SYSTEM - An exemplary embodiment of a Hill Start Aide system for a vehicle includes a brake system. The brake system including a brake actuator for manually actuating the brake system. The brake system is selectively configurable in a stopped configuration, where the brake system is manually maintained via the brake actuator such that a vehicle road wheel speed is about zero rpm, a released configuration, where the brake system will not generally inhibit rotation of at least one vehicle road wheel, and a control stop configuration, where the vehicle road wheel speed is about zero rpm. The Hill Start Aide system also includes a controller for at least partially controlling the brake system. The controller will selectively send a signal to maintain the brake system in the control stopped configuration when the brake actuator is manually released. The controller will send a signal to the brake system to release the brakes when a predetermined amount of time has elapsed after a transmission is manually shifted to a neutral configuration while the brake system is in the control stopped configuration.07-30-2009
