20100036643METHODS FOR THE CYCLICAL PATTERN DETERMINATION OF TIME-SERIES DATA USING A CLUSTERING APPROACH - Cycles and other patterns within time-series data are determined. Time-series data are transformed into discretized sets of clustered data that are organized by time period. Comparison is made of the organized data to determine similar time periods and multiclusters of the similar time periods are formed. From the multicluster data, cycles are identified from which thresholds and other useful data may be derived, or the data used for other useful purposes.02-11-2010

20100168920ELECTRONIC CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A POWERED APPLIANCE DRAWER - An appliance, such as a refrigerator, includes a drawer mounted within a cabinet for movement between an opened position and a closed position. A driving mechanism, including an electric motor connects to the drawer for driving the drawer between the opened position and the closed position. A control circuit connected to the electric motor and the transmission assembly of the driving mechanism commands the transmission assembly to connect or disconnect the electric motor and the drawer, and further commands the electric motor to drive the drawer to one of the opened position and the closed position when the electric motor is connected to the drawer. The control circuit also senses obstructions and adjusts the movement of the drawer accordingly.07-01-2010

20090103931SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR THE COHERENT NON-DIFFERENTIAL DETECTION OF OPTICAL COMMUNICATION SIGNALS - In various exemplary embodiments, the present invention provides coherent non-differential detection systems and methods for the detection of optical communication signals by the Brillouin fiber amplification of an optical communication signal carrier, the coherent non-differential detection systems including: a Sagnac loop including a single-mode fiber span; a fiber span with negligible birefringence (i.e. a spun fiber span or the like); or a fiber loop with negligible birefringence (i.e. a spun fiber loop or the like).04-23-2009
20090254317SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR HIGHLY EFFICIENT BIT ERROR RATE MODELING IN QUASI-LINEAR COMMUNICATION NETWORKS - The present invention provides systems and methods for highly efficient bit error rate (BER) modeling in quasi-linear communication networks. In the present invention, nonlinear noise is treated within a linearization approach along with the amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) noise, and the nonlinear noise is considered as another source of noise in addition to the ASE noise. This enables a quasi-analytical approach to the BER calculation. First, a covariance matrix is analytically computed. An equation is derived for a noise component of a signal and an implicit analytical solution is found depending on the signal and system parameters. Second, probability distribution functions (pdfs) are computed for the signal. An analytical calculation is performed of the characteristic function for the noise statistics. Next, a numerical computation of the Fourier transform of the characteristic function is performed to yield the pdf, and numerical integration is performed on the pdfs to yield the BER.10-08-2009
