20090267565METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CELL EQUALIZATION WITH CHARGING SOURCES AND SHUNT REGULATORS - A system and method for charging a rechargeable, or secondary, battery including a series string of cells, includes a topology of charging sources that selectively provides charging current to cells that need to be charged, but avoids overcharging cells that are already charged above a predetermined voltage threshold. Based on individual cell voltage measurements, the charging current is controlled in a manner to direct charging current to the battery cell(s) needing charge until these cells are fully charged, and by-passes battery cells that are fully charged or become fully charged.10-29-2009
20090309544METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CELL EQUALIZATION WITH SWITCHED CHARGING SOURCES - A system and method for charging a rechargeable, or secondary, battery including a series string of cells, includes a topology of charging sources that selectively provides charging current to cells that need to be charged, but avoids overcharging cells that are already charged above a predetermined voltage threshold. Based on individual cell voltage measurements, the charging current is controlled in a manner to direct charging current to the battery cell(s) needing charge until these cells are fully charged, and by-passes battery cells that are fully charged or become fully charged.12-17-2009
20100310907END OF LIFE INDICATION SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR NON-AQUEOUS CELL HAVING AMORPHOUS OR SEMI-CRYSTALLINE COPPER MANGANESE OXIDE CATHOD MATERIAL - The present disclosure relates generally to indicating an end of life condition of an electrochemical device, and more particularly to systems and methods for sensing and determining an end of life condition in a cell comprising a high capacity cathode material suitable for use in a non-aqueous electrochemical cell. The high capacity cathode material has an amorphous or semi-crystalline form of copper manganese oxide, and optionally fluorinated carbon. The present disclosure additionally relates to transmitting the determined end of life condition to a user or monitoring device of the cell.12-09-2010
20110253254ACTIVATION MECHANISM FOR A RESERVE BATTERY CELL - An activation mechanism for a reserve battery cell generally includes a housing with a chamber containing an electrolytic solution and a delivery device configured to discharge the electrolytic solution from the housing. The delivery device includes a compressed spring configured to be released in response to an external force to initiate the discharge of the electrolytic solution from the housing.10-20-2011

20100025229Apparatus and method for sputtering target debris reduction - Certain example embodiments relate to techniques for reducing the amount of debris being formed on the surface of planar sputtering targets. More particularly, a coating may be applied to the sputtering material in areas where sputtering substantially does not occur (typically inside and outside of a racetrack) in certain example embodiments. The coating optionally may be cured. In certain example embodiments, the coating may be include inorganic materials or materials that resist decomposition in a severely oxidizing environment, and/or are electrically non-conductive materials. For example, the coating may be a cured-form sol-gel comprising, for example, silicon oxide, titanium oxide, and/or the like. The coating substantially encapsulates the target material where sputtering substantially does not occur, thus reducing the amount of debris that is created during sputter coating.02-04-2010
20100044222Sputtering target including magnetic field uniformity enhancing sputtering target backing tube - Certain example embodiments relate to sputtering target backing tube that are slightly ferromagnetic, thereby providing small-scale shunting that reduces the occurrence or magnitude of short-range magnetic field deviations during magnetron sputtering with cylindrical sputtering targets. For example, backing tube allows may be carefully optimized to be somewhat ferromagnetic, thereby enhancing the uniformity of the magnetic field generated by the magnet bar. In certain example embodiments, short range magnetic field deviations may be reduced to less than about 5% from average, more preferably less than about 2% from average, and still more preferably less than about 1% from average. Such short range magnetic field deviation reducing target backing tubes may be used in along with, or in place of, shims or shunts that address long range magnetic field deviations.02-25-2010

20120005478AUTOMATIC CONFIGURATION OF DEVICES UPON INTRODUCTION INTO A NETWORKED ENVIRONMENT - Automatic configuration of devices upon introduction into a networked environment, can be implemented, for example, by having a device randomly generate a series of letters and/or numbers, e.g., generate a PIN (Personal Identification Number) that encodes temporary credentials that, in addition to proving ownership and/or control over the device by virtue of having access to the PIN, also allows creating a temporary secure communication channel based on the PIN over which permanent security credentials may be transferred to the device to facilitate provisioning it to securely communicate in the networked environment. In a wireless scenario, a unique SSID and encryption key (WEP or WPA) may be determined as a function of the PIN, where both the device and its access point utilize the PIN to establish a temporary secure communication channel. Various techniques may be used to establish ownership and/or control over the device to prevent inadvertent association of the device with a wrong networked environment.01-05-2012

20120015625INTRA-VEHICULAR MOBILE DEVICE USAGE DETECTION SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USING THE SAME - A system and method for detecting and storing mobile device usage by a driver of a vehicle. An antenna in a vehicle is configured and positioned to detect mobile device signals from the driver area in the vehicle. A processor in communication with the antenna analyzes the detected signals for frequency and strength. The antenna and processor may communicate with vehicle data collection systems (e.g., GPS, telemetry, etc.) such that the mobile device usage data may be collected along with the vehicle operation data. The mobile device usage data and vehicle operational data can be evaluated to determine the impact of mobile device usage by the driver of a vehicle. The data may be especially useful to the trucking, train, bus, and mass transit industries in order to educate drivers about the dangers associated with using mobile devices while driving.01-19-2012
