20090032019ONE-PIECE, FOLDABLE MASK AND HOLDING CHAMBER FOR USE WITH AEROSOLIZED MEDICATIONS - A one-piece, foldable mask and holding chamber for use with aerosolized medications includes a single flat patterned sheet of formable material that can be bent and folded to form a holding chamber, an integrated respiration mask, a one-way mask inlet valve having an attached valve membrane, and a one-way exhalation outlet valve having an attached valve membrane. The apparatus is configured to form a substantial seal around the nose and mouth of a patient such that the patient can inhale an aerosolized medication that has been introduced into the holding chamber by drawing the medication from the holding chamber, through the inlet valve to the interior of the mask, and into the lungs of the patient. The apparatus is formed by folding a series of segments of the flat pattern along various crease lines to create the holding chamber and mask, and then securing the segments in place with a series of retention tabs and tab engagement slots.02-05-2009

20090084960High Detective Quantum Efficiency X-ray Detectors - An image acquisition apparatus includes a conversion layer for generating electrons in response to electromagnetic radiation photons, and a first semiconducting layer adjacent to the conversion layer for generating electron-hole pairs in response to electrons generated by the conversion layer.04-02-2009
20090264968BREAST TREATMENT MACHINE - An apparatus for irradiating a breast of a patient includes a radiation source, a structure adapted to hold a breast of a patient in receiving a radiation from the radiation source, and a vacuum source. The structure includes a member having an interior generally conformal to a shape of the patient's breast when the breast is uncompressed or pendulous. The vacuum source is adapted to provide a negative pressure in the interior of the member, whereby in use of the apparatus with the patient in a supine position, the breast is held in the generally uncompressed shape. A method of irradiating a breast of a patient includes the steps of placing a breast of a patient in a structure which includes a member having an interior generally conformal to a shape of the patient's breast when pendulous or uncompressed, applying a negative pressure in the interior, thereby bringing the breast in contact with the member in the generally uncompressed shape, and delivering a radiation beam to the breast of the patient in a supine position.10-22-2009
20100016649External Beam Radiotherapy And Imaging With Radioactive Isotope - A method of delivering external radiation beams to a target volume in a body portion includes positioning a radioactive isotope source at a plurality of locations spaced apart around the body portion, and collimating radiation beams of the radioactive isotope source from the plurality of locations, whereby the target volume in the body portion is deposited with a predetermined dose distribution. A radiation device employs a member having a configuration adapted to surround a body portion to be irradiated. The member has a channel and a plurality of collimators spaced apart along and coupled to the channel. The plurality of collimators define a plurality of dwelling locations for a radioactive isotope source in the channel and are configured to collimate radiation beams of the radioactive isotope source.01-21-2010
20100072382APPARATUS OF PHOTOCONDUCTOR CRYSTAL GROWTH - An image acquisition device comprises a photoconductor, a substrate including a detector array, and an interlayer between the photoconductor and the substrate, wherein the interlayer is formed of molecules having a first ligand and a second ligand.03-25-2010
20100098214Methods and Systems for Treating Breast Cancer Using External Beam Radiation - A radiation apparatus includes a radiation source movable in translational and/or rotational degrees of freedom, and a structure adapted to support a body. The structure is provided with an opening to allow a portion of the body passing through to be exposed to at least a portion of the therapeutic radiation while in use.04-22-2010
20100102244Methods and Systems for Treating Cancer Using External Beam Radiation - A radiation system employs magnetic field to move particle beams and radiation sources. The radiation system includes a source operable to produce a particle beam, a scanning magnet operable to scan the particle beam, and a target configured to be impinged by at least a portion of the scanned particle beam to produce radiation.04-29-2010

20090129550FILAMENT ASSEMBLY HAVING REDUCED ELECTRON BEAM TIME CONSTANT - A filament assembly for use in an x-ray emitting device or other filament-containing device is disclosed. In one embodiment, an x-ray tube is disclosed, including a vacuum enclosure that houses both an anode having a target surface, and a cathode positioned with respect to the anode. The cathode includes a filament assembly for emitting a beam of electrons during tube operation. The filament assembly comprises a heat sink and a plurality of filament segments. The filament segments are configured for simultaneous emission of an electron beam for impingement on the target surface of the anode, and are electrically connected in series. Each filament segment includes first and second end portions that are thermally connected to the heat sink, and a central portion that can be configured with a modified work function for preferential electron emission.05-21-2009
