20080213870Methods for obtaining modified DNA from a biological specimen - The present invention provides a method for obtaining modified DNA from a biological specimen by obtaining a cell suspension from the specimen, if necessary; passing the cell suspension through a first filter under conditions sufficient to obtain filter-bound cells and suspended DNA; lysing the filter-bound cells under conditions sufficient to release cellular DNA; modifying the DNA bound to the filter under conditions sufficient to release the modified DNA from the filter into a flow-through volume; passing the flow-through volume through a second filter under conditions sufficient to capture the modified DNA to the second filter; and eluting the modified DNA from the second filter.09-04-2008

20100218585Multi-dimentional high performance liquid chromatographic separation technique (STAR7) for quantitative determinations of 7 fractions in heavy petroleum streams boiling above 550 degrees F - The present invention provides quantitation of seven classes of compounds (saturates, 1-4+ ring aromatics, sulfides, and polars) present in petroleum streams boiling from 550-1050° F. Operating the present invention in the preparative mode will allow us to load and collect multi-milligram amounts of material. In the present invention, all seven fractions are produced in a single run, whereas the most commonly used preparative liquid chromatographic separations requires two or more large scale separations to generate similar fractions. The present invention uses 100 times less solvent. The present invention protocol provides a quicker and cheaper alternative to most commonly used preparative liquid chromatographic separations and is flexible enough to target many refining and chemicals problems.09-02-2010

20080258713MODULAR INTERFACE - An apparatus for interfacing a test head to a peripheral system is provided. The apparatus includes a first unit having a first connection member for providing electrical communication with the peripheral system, a second unit having a second connection member for providing electrical communication with the test system, and pivot members coupling the first unit and the second unit. The pivot members enable motion in the following sequence as one of the first and second unit moves towards the other: a) pivotal motion between the first connection member and the second connection member; and b) linear motion which decreases linear distance between the first connection member and the second connection member while maintaining respective contact surfaces of the first and second connection members in parallel.10-23-2008
