20120041595PISTOL-GRIP FOR INTUITIVE CONTROL OF A ROBOTIC OR VIRTUAL HAND - A pistol-grip controller for the control of a robotic or virtual hand has multiple dual-action switching mechanisms positioned to simulate intuitively the motion of grasping and releasing an object. An externally-projecting switch trigger of each switching mechanism is hook-shaped to facilitate the operator donning and doffing the controller. These switches move in response to gripping and releasing movements of the associated fingers so as to close or open peripherals (fingers) of the end effector hand. A rocker switch allows an operator to toggle conveniently between commonly used modes of a virtual or robot hand, or the like. The mode toggling is complemented by a control to adjust between the commonly used modes of operation. To make the manipulation of the end effector more intuitive, the controller remaps the switching mechanisms to different functionalities on the end effector based on the mode of operation. The transition between switch to end effector mappings is hysteretic. In addition, the pistol-grip controller can be attached to an appropriate “master” robot arm and can be moved as a whole to create like roll, pitch and yaw movements and x, y and z displacements of the end effector on the “slave” robot arm without the actuation of any of the switches.02-16-2012

20110180457SELECTIVE DESULFURIZATION OF NAPHTHA USING REACTION INHIBITORS - A reaction inhibitor can be used to reduce catalyst activity at the beginning of a naphtha selective hydrodesulfurization process. The use of the reaction inhibitor can allow greater flexibility in selecting the reaction conditions to accommodate both the start and end of the hydrodesulfurization process. The reaction inhibitor can be removed during the hydrodesulfurization process, possibly in conjunction with modification of the reaction temperature, in order to maintain a substantially constant amount of sulfur in the naphtha product.07-28-2011

Described is a further method including receiving a broadcast transmission from an MU, sending a request to the MU to conduct a private communication session, and conducting the private communication session with the MU. Described is a device including means for determining whether further devices can receive a broadcast transmission from the device, and means for transitioning from a broadcast communication session to a private communication session.03-04-2010
20100073187METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR NO-TOUCH INITIAL PRODUCT DEPLOYMENT - A non-contact deployment method generally includes: configuring a component so that it is in a low-power state; receiving an activation signal (e.g., light, RFID, WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.); causing a deployment module within the component to wake up; and instructing the component to perform the appropriate deployment steps. The activation signal is preferably a type of signal that does not require special equipment, i.e., a signal that would conventionally be present within an environment in which a network is being deployed. The signal may be received, for example, while the component is within its shipping box or other enclosure.03-25-2010
