20090062684APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR A GLOBAL MODEL OF HOLLOW INTERNAL ORGANS INCLUDING THE DETERMINATION OF CROSS-SECTIONAL AREAS AND VOLUME IN INTERNAL HOLLOW ORGANS AND WALL PROPERTIES - The present invention relates generally to medical measurement systems for evaluation of organ function and understanding symptom and pain mechanisms. This model takes into account a number of factors such as volume and properties of the fluid and the surrounding tissue. Particular emphasis is on a multifunctional probe that can provide a number of measurements including volume of refluxate in the esophagus and to what level it extents. The preferred embodiments of the invention relate to methods and apparatus for measuring luminal cross-sectional areas of internal organs such as blood vessels, the gastrointestinal tract, the urogenital tract and other hollow visceral organs and the volume of the flow through the organ. It can also be used to determine conductivity of the fluid in the lumen and thereby it can determine the parallel conductance of the wall and geometric and mechanical properties of the organ wall.03-05-2009

20110192401CLOSED RESPIRATORY SUCTION SYSTEM - The present invention concerns a respiratory suction system for providing ventilation of a patient's respiratory tract, the system comprising an elongated catheter with a distal end, a manifold defining a flow path in a ventilator circuit and comprising access structure allowing the catheter to be advanced through the manifold and into a respiratory tract of a patient, the access structure including a valve which is openable in response to the advancement of the catheter through the valve and into the flow path. The valve has a proximal end has an annular outer flange section, a distal end and a tubular body extending between the proximal end and the distal end, the tubular body having a plurality of valve members extending from the annular flange section to the distal end which has end surfaces wherein a plurality of radial slits are provided, extending from the center towards the periphery and thereby separating the valve members at the distal end.08-11-2011

20100218834MICRO FLUID DEVICE WITH A MULTI LUMEN HOSE - The invention provides a micro fluid device comprising a substrate with a channel forming a receiving cavity, an outer chamber, and an inner chamber, the device further comprising a multi lumen hose with a free end portion which is fixed in the receiving cavity. The multi lumen hose forming a first conduit and at least one second conduit located radially offset from the first conduit, and the outer chamber is in fluid communication with at least one second conduit, and the inner chamber is in fluid communication with the first conduit. The chambers are separated by an inner sealing member located between the substrate and the hose. To simplify the manufacturing of the device, the channel is formed by a groove in an upper surface of a body of the substrate, which groove closed by an essentially plane cover which is sealed to the upper surface.09-02-2010
