Compositions and method of treating hypoxia-associated diseases - Hypoxia, a state of lower than normal tissue oxygen tension, has recently been implicated in a host of human diseases, including cancer, heart disease, and neurological disorders. Novel associations between p97 and other proteins, including UBX-domain-containing proteins (UBX-polypeptides), HIF1α, and a variety of E3 ligases are provided herein. The disclosure provides complexes comprising UBX-domain-containing polypeptides (UBX-polypeptides) and other polypeptides involved in the degradation of ubiquitinated proteins. In addition, the disclosure provides uses for active agents that modulate protein-protein complex formation between an UBX-polypeptide and its complementary-binding substrate. For example, the disclosure provides methods for treating or preventing hypoxia-related disorders or conditions in a patient or a cell by administration of an active agent that modulates the activity of an UBX-polypeptide and/or its complementary binding-substrate. Furthermore, the disclosure provides uses for active agents that modulate HIF1α activity; such agents may be used to modulate processes that are regulated by HIF1α. The disclosure also provides many screening assays to identify test agents that modulate complex formation between an UBX-polypeptide and its complementary-binding substrate or methods for evaluating modes of action and/or effects of active agents that have already been identified as modulators of an UBX-polypeptide and/or its complementary-binding substrate. | 07-30-2009

Long-Term Storage of Non-Glycosylated Recombinant Human G-CSF - The present invention provides a method for stable long-term storage of non-glycosylated recombinant human G-CSF, wherein an aqueous acetate or glutamate buffered G-CSF composition containing non-glycosylated recombinant human G-CSF and sorbitol is cooled to a temperature of −15° C. or below to obtain a frozen G-CSF composition, which frozen composition is then stored in the frozen state. The temperature of the frozen G-CSF composition is later increased to a temperature within the range of from 2° C. to 8° C. for a time selected to allow the G-CSF composition to thaw and to obtain a liquid G-CSF composition having a G-CSF content of at least 95% of the G-CSF content of the original composition. | 02-23-2012

FRACTIONAL HARQ RE-TRANSMISSION - A mechanism is provided to allow an HARQ retransmission to more closely match the receiver's need for energy with the additional energy sent over the wireless link. In one aspect, the receiver sends the transmitter qualitative feedback which indicates to the transmitter an approximate amount of additional energy that the receiver needs to successfully decode the transmission. | 02-11-2010

Downlink Acquisition - The subject matter disclosed herein provides methods and apparatus, including computer program products, for detecting a preamble to enable acquisition of a downlink. In one aspect, there is provided a method. The method may include receiving a plurality of symbols. From an autocorrelation of the received symbols, a guard interval may be detected. The guard interval may represent a receive/transmit transition gap (RTG). A metric may be used to verify whether at least one symbol positioned after the detected guard interval is a preamble. Related systems, apparatus, methods, and/or articles are also described. | 07-30-2009
Demapper Using Floating-Point Representation of Soft Bits - The subject matter disclosed herein provides methods and systems for converting fixed-point soft bit values, provided by a demapper, into floating-point soft bits values. In one aspect, there is provided a method. The method may include receiving, from a demapper, soft bits formatted as a fixed-point value. Moreover, the soft bits may be converted from the fixed-point value to a floating-point value. The floating-point value is punctured to remove a bit. The converted soft bits are provided to a buffer to enable decoding of the buffered soft bits. Related systems, apparatus, methods, and/or articles are also described. | 12-31-2009
SYSTEM AND PROCESS FOR PACKET DELINEATION - An error management system and process can be used to identify an erroneous data packet in a data stream. In response to identifying the erroneous data packet, a subsequent valid data packet is located in the data stream. In one embodiment, a plurality of candidate locations of header checksum windows are searched and checked for a valid checksum. Multiple integrity checks of multiple header checksums can be used to reduce the probability of a false positive integrity check. In another embodiment, one or more information data fields can used for determining packet integrity by determining if the fields contain valid information bits. | 07-21-2011
| 20110144431 | SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING USE OF CAPSULE ENDOSCOPES - In a method or system for limiting use of capsule endoscopes by a capsule endoscope maagnetic steering system used by a customer, the capsule endoscope is provided with a use code stored with the capsule. The use code is read and analyzed to determine whether or not the customer's capsule endoscope magnetic steering system will be enabled or disabled for use with the capsule endoscope from which the use code was read. | 06-16-2011
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DETERMINATION OF 3D POSITIONS AND ORIENTATIONS OF SURGICAL OBJECTS FROM 2D X-RAY IMAGES - In a method, a system and a computer readable storage medium encoded with programming instructions, as well as a calculation module for three-dimensional presentation of at least two separate surgical objects within a medical procedure, access to three-dimensional models for the surgical objects takes place based on an acquired two-dimensional x-ray image with the surgical objects. The accessed three-dimensional models are integrated into the acquired two-dimensional x-ray image in order to be shown as a modified x-ray image. The modified x-ray image includes position information, relative positions and orientations of the surgical objects. | 11-17-2011
