20090274415Compact, Low-Loss Optical Wavelength Multiplexer/Demultiplexer - The multiplexer/demultiplexer has a planar reflector, a planar first filter element and a planar second filter element offset from the first filter element in a first direction to receive light reflected and transmitted from a first location on the first filter element. The first and second filter elements have orthogonal surface normals. The reflector is parallel to the second filter element and is offset therefrom in a second direction, orthogonal to first direction, to receive light reflected and transmitted from a second location, offset from the first location in the second direction, on the first filter element. The first and second filter elements each transmit and reflect light in non-overlapping wavelength ranges, and one of them has a band-pass or band-stop transmission characteristic.11-05-2009

20110084818Telecommunications system and method for a mobile device allowing escalation through notification levels - Upon receipt of a communication, the mobile device performs an escalation from visual to tactile to audible notification. The user can designate particular “contacts” listed in a database as being authorized to send high priority communications to the device. Designated contacts are then able to mark communications as high priority. Upon receipt of a high priority communication from a designated contact, the mobile communication device escalates from visual to tactile to audible notification, but for communications from all other contacts uses a default notification (ie. visual, tactile, or audible).04-14-2011

20090088822THERAPEUTIC PULSE LASER METHODS AND APPARATUS - A method and apparatus for providing therapeutic pulse laser treatment. The treatment method includes delivering more than one therapeutic laser light protocol from a hand held therapeutic laser device according to a preprogrammed schedule. At one or more select times during the preprogrammed schedule, the hand held therapeutic laser device will produce audio output. The audio output provides information to the user and directs him or her to execute a step in the overall treatment plan. For example, the audio output may signal to the user that it is necessary to make a change in or between treatment protocols, move the laser device, pause treatment, or otherwise control the delivery of therapeutic laser light. The ability of a relatively untrained user to implement the method may be enhanced if the audio output is delivered as synthetic speech output.04-02-2009

20100026783METHOD AND APPARATUS TO ENCODE AND DECODE STEREOSCOPIC VIDEO DATA - A method and apparatus for encoding or tagging a video frame provides a way to indicate, to a receiver, for example, whether the video content is 3-D content or 2-D content. A method and apparatus for decoding an encoded or tagged video frame provides a way, for a receiver, for example, to determine whether the video content is 3-D content or 2-D content. 3-D video data may be encoded by replacing lines of at least one video frame with a specific color or pattern. When a decoder detects the presence of the colored or patterned lines in an image frame, it may interpret them as an indicator that 3-D video data is present.02-04-2010
20100309535Shutter-glass eyewear control - A method for shutter glass eyewear control provides for a command sequence having precise shutter timing and control information for opening and closing the left and right shutters of shutter glass eyewear. The infrared signal commands are offset from the corresponding shutter action to minimize interference while still allowing the eyewear to track changes in the timing of the infrared signal received from a display system. Command sequence encodings are provided for enhanced interference rejection.12-09-2010

20090319146TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM FOR DIESEL POWERED VEHICLES - The present invention provides an improved traction control system which can be advantageously applied to a vehicle which does not employ a spark ignition engine, such as a vehicle powered by a diesel engine. In an embodiment of the invention, a traction control unit (TCU) and a digital potentiometer are interfaced between the wheel speed sensors and the vehicle ECU. The traction control unit senses wheel, the traction control unit causes the digital potentiometer to decrement the throttle position sensor voltage read by the ECU, which in turn reduces the fuel flow through the fuel injector. The reduction in fuel flow reduces the wheel speed and/or wheel torque thereby allowing the slipping wheels to regain traction. When traction is regained, the traction control unit causes the digital potentiometer to begin incrementing the throttle position sensor voltage back up to its standard voltage, determined by the current throttle position, thereby causing the ECU to increase the fuel flow through the fuel injector to the standard level for the current throttle position.12-24-2009
