20090277355ALKENYLSUCCINIC ANHYDRIDE SURFACE-APPLIED SYSTEM AND USES THEREOF - The invention relates to an aqueous sizing composition including: (a) a first component comprising an emulsion having an alkenylsuccinic anhydride component containing alkenylsuccinic anhydride particles and a surfactant component; suspended in water; and (b) a second component selected from the group consisting of cationic starches, non-ionic starches, anionic starches, water, water-soluble polymers, and mixtures thereof; such that the alkenylsuccinic anhydride component and the second component are sufficiently diluted to enable the sizing composition to impart useful sizing properties to a fibrous substrate when the sizing composition contacts the fibrous substrate. The invention also relates to fibrous substrates treated with such a composition as well as processes for making and using the composition. In one embodiment, alkyl ketene dimer is used instead of alkenylsuccinic anhydride.11-12-2009

20120017960ANCHORING SYSTEM FOR PORTABLE SHELTERS AND THE LIKE - Disclosed is an anchoring system for a portable shelter that includes a plurality of anchor assemblies each having a support surface for supporting one of the legs of the portable shelter above the ground when the leg rests on the support surface such that the anchor assemblies are positionable under the legs of the portable shelter to support the portable shelter above the ground. Each anchor assembly includes a container, a retainer and an attachment. The container forms a hollow interior space for holding weighting material and has a removable lid forming the support surface. The retainer blocks the leg from sliding off of the support surface. The attachment includes an anchor plate located within the hollow interior space and below the weighting material and a cable extending from the anchor plate and out of the container for attachment to the tensioning line01-26-2012

20100213337Mounting assembly - A mounting assembly is provided for attachment to a structural member to enable suspension of an object from the structural member. The mounting assembly includes a mounting bracket for attachment to the structural member, and a suspension bracket defining a cavity for positioning of at least a portion of the object therein. The suspension bracket is operably coupled to the mounting bracket so as to enable adjustable positioning of the suspension bracket with respect to the mounting bracket.08-26-2010

20110203896Balanced Clutch System - A balanced clutch system is provided for use in a transmission. The balanced clutch system includes a clutch assembly that has a clutch piston and a balance piston that cooperate with a clutch piston cavity and a balance piston cavity. Each of the clutch piston cavity and balance piston cavity receives a continuous supply of fluid and establishes a centrifugal head pressure therein, during use. The centrifugal head pressure established in the balance piston cavity contributes to a force that opposes a self-engaging tendency of the clutch assembly that is created by the centrifugal head pressure established within the clutch piston cavity.08-25-2011

20100021435PANCREATIC ISLET-LIKE CELLS - The generation of pancreatic islet-like cells from isolated monocyte-derived stem cells (MDSCs) is provided. MD-SCs may be differentiated into pancreatic islet cells by contacting the MDSCs with a differentiation factor or factors. Compositions comprising pancreatic islet cells and methods of using them are also provided.01-28-2010
20100047908MONOCYTE-DERIVED STEM CELLS - Methods for generating multipotent stem cells from adult peripheral blood monocytes are provided. Monocytes may be de-differentiated into monocyte-derived stem cells (MDSCs) by contacting the monocyte with the de-differentation factors, leukocyte inhibitory factor, macrophage colony-stimulating factor, or a combination thereof. The MDSCs may be differentiated into many different types of cells upon contact with the appropriate differentiation factors. Also provided are compositions comprising the MDSCs or differentiated cells derived from the MDSCs.02-25-2010
