20100176059ION EXCHANGE RESINS COMPRISING INTERPENETRATING POLYMER NETWORKS AND THEIR USE IN CHROMIUM REMOVAL - The invention includes ion exchange resins and their use in the removal of chromium from water. In one embodiment, the invention comprises a method for removing chromium from a water source by contacting the water with an ion exchange resin, wherein the ion exchange resin comprises particles of a crosslinked copolymer comprising: an interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) of at least two polymer components each having a styrenic content greater than 50 molar percent, and a quaternary ammonium functionality.07-15-2010
20100210743AMINATION OF VINYL AROMATIC POLYMERS WITH TERTIARY AMINES - The invention generally relates to amination reactions and amination reaction products, and particularly to methods for aminating vinyl aromatic polymers utilizing tertiary amines. In one embodiment, the invention includes conducting an amination reaction by combining a tertiary amine and a vinyl aromatic polymer comprising benzyl chloride groups to form a reaction mixture and maintaining the pH of the reaction mixture within a designated range. In another embodiment, the invention includes an aminated vinyl aromatic polymer. In yet another embodiment, the invention includes an ion exchange resin including quaternary ammonium functionality. The invention is useful in preparing ion exchange resins suitable for a variety of applications such as the removal of perchlorate ions from water sources and recovery of gold cyanide from mining leach solutions.08-19-2010

20100071977APPARATUS FOR FEEDING COOLING AIR TO A RADIATOR OF A MOTOR VEHICLE - Inlet openings at the frontal region of a vehicle have actuable transversely oriented pivoting lamellae disposed behind them. The lamellae guide an air flow to a vehicle radiator in a targeted manner. The pivoting lamellae are connected to an actuating device with control linkages that are articulated to one another via deflection levers for an upper and a lower lamella unit. The upper pivoting lamellae are adjusted at an angle which is different than the lower pivoting lamellae. The upper pivoting lamellae can be set in each case as a unit jointly with the lower pivoting lamellae as a further unit.03-25-2010
