20090174541Light assembly with shielding device and visibility window - The present disclosure relates to an housing that reduces obstruction of the vehicle operator's ability to see through the upper portion of the windshield. Rather than a light shield constructed entirely of a opaque plastic, an interior mounted warning light assembly incorporates a visibility window above the vehicle operator's position. A cutout in the opaque casing material is fitted with a window of transparent one-way mirror material. The mirror coating faces the interior of the light assembly and acts as a shield by blocking flashback when the light assembly is activated, while simultaneously allowing the operator of the vehicle to see upwardly through it to the outside during normal vehicle operation.07-09-2009

20090299256SEE-THROUGH, REDUCED-PRESSURE DRESSINGS AND SYSTEMS - A see-through dressing assembly is presented for use with a reduced-pressure system for treating a wound on a patient using reduced pressure that allows visual observation of the wound during treatment. The dressing assembly includes a bolster for providing a directed force when under reduced pressure, a sealing member for covering the bolster and providing a seal over the bolster and a patient's epidermis, and wherein the bolster and sealing member are formed from see-through materials sufficient to allow perception of color from a point external to the system. Other systems, dressings, and methods are presented.12-03-2009
20090299307REDUCED-PRESSURE, LINEAR-WOUND TREATMENT SYSTEMS - A system for treating a linear wound on a patient has a closing dressing bolster for placing on the patient's epidermis over the linear wound, a sealing subsystem for providing a seal over the closing dressing bolster and the patient, and a reduced-pressure subsystem for delivering reduced pressure to the sealing subsystem. The sealing subsystem and reduced pressure subsystem are operable to deliver reduced pressure to the closing dressing bolster. The closing dressing bolster is operable under reduced pressure to develop a inward closing. The closing dressing bolster may include one or more closing members on each side of a center wound area to create the inward closing when under reduced pressure. A compressive force may also be developed. Other systems and methods are presented.12-03-2009
20100145360SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TRANSPLANTATION OF DERMAL TISSUE - A dermal tissue transplantation system combining a tissue particle harvester, a tissue particle collector, and a chambered dressing. The system provides a harvester capable of harvesting tissue from a donor site on the order of about 100 microns. The integrated tissue particle collector provides a means for collecting the harvested tissue for in situ cultivation in a chambered dressing at the wound site.06-10-2010

20100119595Monounsaturated fatty acids and perhydrocyclopentanophenanthrene nucleus combination molecules, and their precursors, and the use of all of these as weight-loss agents - The pharmaceutical and/or cosmetic compositions for treatment of obesity and/or overweight contain an effective amount of a fatty-acid monoester of a 2 hydroxy derivative estrogen and a fatty acid wherein the estrogen is preferably a 2 hydroxy derivative of estrone, diethylstilbestrol, estriol, estradiol or ethinyl estradiol and the fatty acid is selected from the group consisting of the fatty acid oleic acid, arachadonic, palmitic, palmitoleic, linoleic, linolenic, cis 13 docosenoic acid, and the fatty acid, cis 15 tetracosenoic acid eicosenoic acid, especially cis 11 eicosenoic, although cis 5, cis 8, and cis 13 eicosenoic acid are also effective. The C-22 fatty acid monoester of estrogen, cis to 13 docosenoic acid (Erucic acid), and the C-24 fatty acid monoester of estrogen, cis 15 tetracosenoic acid (Nervonic acid) are also effective and are included in this disclosure. In addition, synthesized combination molecules formed when a monounsaturated fatty acid of 20 carbon atoms or more is joined via an ester, ether, or amide bond to either a steroid or any molecule containing a perhydrocyclopentanophenanthrene nucleus or perhydrocyclopentanophenanthrene nucleus derivative are also included in this invention. The fatty-acid monoesters mimic the function of estrone monooleate, as a signal that informs the brain of the size of fat tissue mass. In preferred pharmaceutical and/or cosmetic compositions for intravenous injection the monoester is incorporated in a lipidic suspension, prepared from lipoproteins or from liposome components, such as soy oil and egg phospholipids. When administered to rats with a 15% of total adipose tissue, they produce weight reduction of about 10%, by a new and unexpected mechanism. They are useful for the treatment of obesity and/or overweight in mammals, with the advantages of high efficacy and low toxicity.05-13-2010

20080280339Cell Training For Local Field Stimulation - A system is provided for stimulating one or more cells, wherein the stimulation is sub-threshold and may alter a transmembrane potential of the one or more cells. For some populations of cells it may be possible to affect the transmembrane potential to gain a therapeutic benefit. Cells of the sino-atrial node spontaneously depolarize predominantly due to the slow depolarization of transmembrane potential. The present system may provide sino-atrial cells with a local field stimulation that while not eliciting an action potential may nonetheless alter local transmembrane potential. Such alteration of transmembrane potential may permit an increase or decrease in a rate of depolarization, and hence modify heart rate.11-13-2008
