20080269585System for determining insulin dose using carbohydrate to insulin ratio and insulin sensitivity factor - An apparatus and method are provided for determining a patient's carbohydrate to insulin ratio (CIR) and insulin sensitivity factor (ISF), and using these values, along with values for current blood glucose level and deviation from target blood glucose level, for determining insulin dose in view of carbohydrate intake during a particular time period. The apparatus and method employ algorithms that can be implemented in any of a personal computer, personal data assistant, hand held computing device, blood glucose monitor, infusion pump, medication delivery pen, meter, calculator, among other therapeutic, diagnostic or informational devices used for managing a patient's blood glucose levels.10-30-2008
20090240129Apparatus and method for monitoring blood glucose levels including convenient diplay of blood glucose value average and constituent values - A method of presenting glucose data to a person with diabetes from a blood glucose meter is provided in which an effective meal average (EMA) value is presented, followed by two or more of the individual values that make up the EMA, to provide improved feedback data for clinical decisions by patients who need to alter their dose of insulin. The EMA can also comprise a measure of the variability of its constituent values. The EMA encompasses those values that occur at specified times such as 1 hour before and 1 hour after a specified meal time. The EMA is calculated over a limited number of days previous to the calculation (e.g., 3 days) and has a minimum number of values that must be obtained within the time and date ranges. An algorithm allows for exclusion of any given reading from the average (e.g., post-prandial or control solution readings). Patients can use 1 to 8 EMA on any given date range (e.g., preferably 4, that is, breakfast, lunch, supper and bedtime snack).09-24-2009

20110044865MICROFLUIDIC SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR USING SAME - In a microfluidic system, a magnetic clamp for sealing a flexible microchannel chip includes a base formed from a magnetically-attractable material. The base supports a window for viewing the face of the microfluidic chip. A ring with magnets uniformly distributed around it is disposed over the base. A transparent disk attached to the top of the ring has an inlet and an outlet for introducing and removing a fluid medium into a cavity defined the disk, the window, the center opening of the ring and the base. An elastomer cushion is attached to the inner surface of the disk. The magnetic force between the base and the magnets on the ring compresses the cushion against the microfluidic chip so that the microchannels are sealed against the window with a uniform and reproducible pressure.02-24-2011

Additional information that is derived includes the presence of stop signs and traffic lights at intersections, the legality of turns at certain times of day, and the connectedness or non-connectedness of road segments.03-12-2009
20100211312Routing Optimization System and Method - A system and method for flight planning determines an optimal route by considering a region of operation for an aircraft in a flight segment, dividing the region into subregions; estimating a minimum cost to traverse each subregion, determining the optimal route based on the sum of the estimates.08-19-2010
20110037618Driver Safety System Using Machine Learning - A traffic routing display system provides a visual display of the expected state of an upcoming traffic light. In one aspect, the display is an icon colored to correspond to the expected state. In another aspect, the time remaining before the state of a traffic light changes is displayed. The effect that an indicator has on driver behavior is used to determine the type of indicator to provide to the driver. Certain indicators may not be displayed by the system depending on the effect they have on the driver.02-17-2011
20110037619Traffic Routing Using Intelligent Traffic Signals, GPS and Mobile Data Devices - A traffic routing system reduces emissions from commuter and other traffic, eases congestion on roadways, and decreases transit time by use of communications among vehicles and traffic controls, such as traffic lights. In one aspect, a traffic light receives a signal that a vehicle is approaching and in response turns green to allow the vehicle to pass without impairment. In another aspect, a vehicle receives a signal to adjust a current rate of speed to arrive when a traffic signal allows vehicles to pass. In still another aspect, a combination of congestion, emergency traffic, roadwork and similar factors influence proposed routes sent to vehicles.02-17-2011
20110040621Traffic Routing Display System - A traffic routing display system provides a visual display of the expected state of an upcoming traffic light. In one aspect, the display is an icon colored to correspond to the expected state. In another aspect, the intensity of the color varies based on the certainty of the expectation. Another display shows the expected state of the traffic light at various speeds, allowing a driver to slow down for instance if the state of the light is not expected to be different at a slower speed. A speed limit icon is also displayed, and changes color when the speed limit is exceeded.02-17-2011

20110040673SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR LINKING ORDERS IN ELECTRONIC TRADING SYSTEMS - Systems and methods for linking orders in electronic trading systems are provided. These systems and methods enable a trader to select two or more items that are to be linked and specify linking parameters for those items. Any desired set of items may be linked, and the linking parameters may include price adjustments, order sequencing instructions, automatic/manual execution controls, execution delays commands, and update frequency limits. Upon detecting a bid or offer for a linked item, the systems and methods may then determine a size and a price for each linked item based upon the size and the price of the bid or offer for the first linked item. In this way, the sizes and the prices for the other linked items may be propagated from the size and the price for the first item. Once the size and the price for each item is determined, the systems and methods may submit orders for the items in accordance with the linking parameters. In the case where orders for linked items may only be submitted in designated lot sizes, the systems and methods may round the sizes of the orders to the designated lot sizes, and then submit remainder orders to make up for the rounding.02-17-2011
