20090061508Laminar flow reactor - A Laminar Flow reactor for large scale culturing or packaging of cell suspensions, three-dimensional tissue and other biological systems is disclosed. The Laminar Flow reactor consists of an upper housing and a lower housing. The housings are interconnected by a plurality of connectors and a plurality of rigid spacers, an inlet fluid, an outlet fluid, a fluid reservoir, and a means for transporting fluid within the system. During treatment, liquid media is transported from the fluid reservoir to the inlet manifold, which will in turn evenly distribute the media to each of the connected connectors and internal culture pockets. Laminar flow through the device is maintained by the cylindrical shape of the device and by bypasses. An outlet fluid manifold is also provided to ensure that each treatment chamber is evenly filled and to ensure that any air bubbles formed during treatment are removed from the treatment chambers.03-05-2009

The cell comprises at least one patterned layer of a phase-change material, and is characterized in that this patterned layer comprises at least two regions having different resistivities. If the resistivity of the phase-change material is higher in a well-defined area with limited dimensions (“hot spot”) than outside this area, then, for a given current flow between the electrodes, advantageously more Joule heat will be generated within this area compared to the area of the phase-change material where the resistivity is lower.01-07-2010
