20080225041Method and System for Vision-Based Interaction in a Virtual Environment - A method and system for vision-based interaction in a virtual environment is disclosed. According to one embodiment, a computer-implemented method comprises receiving data from a plurality of sensors to generate a meshed volumetric three-dimensional representation of a subject. A plurality of clusters is identified within the meshed volumetric three-dimensional representation that corresponds to motion features. The motion features include hands, feet, knees, elbows, head, and shoulders. The plurality of sensors is used to track motion of the subject and manipulate the motion features of the meshed volumetric three-dimensional representation.09-18-2008

20100304161CASTING PROCESSES, CASTING APPARATUSES THEREFOR, AND CASTINGS PRODUCED THEREBY - A casting process and apparatus for producing directionally-solidified castings, and castings produced therewith. The process entails applying a facecoat slurry to a surface within a mold cavity to form a continuous solid facecoat on the surface, introducing a molten metal alloy into the mold cavity so that the molten metal alloy contacts the facecoat, and then immersing the mold in a liquid coolant to cool and solidify the molten metal alloy and form a casting of the metal alloy, during which an oxide layer forms on the casting surface. The facecoat is sufficiently adherent to the oxide layer such that at least a portion of the facecoat detaches from the mold surface and remains tightly adhered to the casting surface in the event the casting contracts during cooling. The facecoat contains at least 60 weight percent of a first phase of yttria, and the balance of the facecoat is a binder phase of an inorganic material.12-02-2010

20090126894LIQUID METAL DIRECTIONAL CASTING APPARATUS - An apparatus for directionally casting articles generally includes a seal between a mold assembly and chill plate. In one embodiment, the mold assembly includes a skirt laterally extending from at least one shell mold, wherein the skirt includes a channel disposed in a bottom surface that is configured to surround the at least one shell mold. A chill plate fastened to a bottom of the mold assembly and includes a boss having a shape complementary to the channel, wherein the boss of the chill plate is seated within the channel of the mold assembly to define the seal about the at least one shell mold.05-21-2009
20100018666HIGH EMITTANCE SHELL MOLDS FOR DIRECTIONAL CASTING - Shell molds and processes for making the shell molds that exhibit high emissivity in the red and infrared regions. In this manner, thermal resistance within a gap formed between solidifying cast metal and the interior mold surface is decreased. In one embodiment, the facecoat region is formed from a slurry composition comprising an aluminum oxide, a green chromium oxide and a silicon dioxide. In another embodiment, the facecoat region is formed from a slurry composition including zirconium silicate and silica with stucco layer of alumina is included.01-28-2010

20080260566METHOD FOR PRODUCING A METALLIC ARTICLE HAVING A GRADED COMPOSITION, WITHOUT MELTING - A method for preparing a metallic article made of metallic constituent elements includes furnishing a chemically reduced initial metallic material formed from chemically reducing a mixture of nonmetallic precursor compounds of the metallic constituent elements, without melting the initial metallic material, and consolidating the initial metallic material to produce a consolidated metallic article, without melting the initial metallic material and without melting the consolidated metallic article. A net macroscopic composition of the consolidated metallic article varies spatially according to a pre-selected pattern10-23-2008

20110099781SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AUTOMATICALLY ALTERING A THEME ASSOCIATED WITH A ROOM OR SIMILAR SPACE - A method for changing a theme associated with a given space (e.g., restaurant). A wall system includes a wall panel having multiple themes depicted thereon or multiple wall panels each having a theme depicted thereon. Using a series of winches, chain drives, cables and pulleys or the like, the wall panels are moved to change the theme of the space. A ceiling system includes two ceiling panels movable via a series of winches, chain drives, cables and pulleys. Once separated the ceiling panels expose a theme different than that depicted while closed. Audio and/or visual cues may be provided to alert patrons to a theme change.05-05-2011

20090307367CLIENT SIDE STREAM SWITCHING - Client side stream switching enables substantially uninterrupted transmission of a highest compatible bit rate of a stream of media to a client via a network connection. The client may include one or more buffers for receiving the stream of media. Attributes including the buffer activity and a bandwidth of the network connection may be monitored by a streaming module to determine an alternative bit rate of the stream of media. The stream of media may be transitioned from the first bit rate to the alternative bit rate without an interruption of the stream of media to provide the client with the highest compatible bit rate based on the monitored attributes.12-10-2009
20090307368STREAM COMPLEXITY MAPPING - Stream complexity mapping enables substantially uninterrupted transmission of a highest compatible bit rate of a stream of media to a client via a network connection. Stream complexity data may include complexity information for each period of a stream of media. The stream complexity data may be associated with the stream of media. The stream complexity data may be analyzed to enable a preemptive transition to a new stream of media having a new bit rate and/or expanding a buffer capacity to provide uninterrupted streaming media for complex portions of a variable bit rate stream of media.12-10-2009
