The cleaning device is a single or multilayer flexible band which is secured to a golf shoe without interfering with the cleats. The device is elastic and stretches sufficiently to be slid over the circumference of a golfer's shoe, and when released, retracts sufficiently to snugly fit and remain in place. The outer surface includes an abrasive surface portion which a golf clubhead is rubbed against to remove any dirt. The lower portion of the device is sized to rest against the sole of a golf shoe such that it does not interfere with the cleats. The outer surface rests snugly against the golf shoe and does not protrude or interfere with the golfer's walking or swing. The outer surface may be detachable and replaceable.
