FLUID FLOW STRUCTURE AND METHOD OF USE FOR CONTINUOUS MOTION WASHING MACHINE - A washing machine and/or a fluid flow structure for a washing machine wash tank is provided. The wash tank is generally rectangular and includes a bottom wall, two side walls and two end walls extending upwardly from said bottom wall. The wash tank further includes at least one flow directional opening in at least one of the walls. In a preferred embodiment, the wash tank includes a plurality of flow directional openings positioned along one of the side walls of the wash tank. A fluid flow structure is located within said wash tank, which includes a fluid flow guide surface, and a support for said guide surface. The guide surface includes at least one region contoured inconsistently from the contour of at least one corresponding wall of the washing machine wash tank. In a preferred embodiment, the contour of the guide surface is generally curved. The contour of the guide surface aids in reducing and/or preventing the pinning of items that often occurs in rectangular wash tanks of the prior art. The support for the guide surface creates a gap between said guide surface and at least one wall of the washing machine wash tank. The guide surface, support and/or associated gap at least partially isolates impacts, noise or other vibrations acting on the guide surface from acting on the walls of the washing machine wash tank. In a preferred embodiment, the guide surface and/or support includes multiple sections that fit within a wash tank and a divider member is at least primarily held in place between two adjacent sections of the guide surface and/or support. | 01-27-2011

PROCESS FOR TREATING BIOMASS TO DERIVATIZE POLYSACCHARIDES CONTAINED THEREIN TO INCREASE THEIR ACCESSIBILITY TO HYDROLYSIS AND SUBSEQUENT FERMENTATION - A process is described for producing fermentable sugars derivable from biomass that contains polysaccharide, such as cellulose, made increasingly accessible as a substrate for enzymatic degradation or other methods of depolymerization. These fermentable sugars are subsequently able to be fermented to produce various target chemicals, such as alcohols, aldehydes, ketones or acids. | 02-17-2011
PROCESS FOR TREATING BIOMASS TO INCREASE ACCESSIBILITY OF POLYSACCARIDES CONTAINED THEREIN TO HYDROLYSIS AND SUBSEQUENT FERMENTATION, AND POLYSACCHARIDES WITH INCREASED ACCESSIBILITY - In this invention, a process for producing fermentable sugars derivable from biomass that contains polysaccharide, such as cellulose, which has been made increasingly accessible as a substrate for enzymatic degradation or other methods of depolymerization. The process of the present invention increases accessibility of polysaccharides, typically present in biomass and produces polysaccharides with increased accessibility. The polysaccharides with increased accessibility may be subsequently saccharified to yield fermentable sugars. These fermentable sugars are subsequently able to be fermented to produce various target chemicals, such as alcohols, aldehydes, ketones or acids. | 06-02-2011

Rear Gate with Open Step-Through Area - A rear gate includes a frame with first, second, and third vertical members, a horizontal top member, and a horizontal bottom member. The first and second vertical members are connected to the horizontal top and bottom members to form a first opening between the first and second vertical members. The third vertical member is connected to the horizontal top member to form a second opening between the second and third vertical members. The horizontal bottom member only extends between the first and second vertical members so that the second opening is free of the frame at a bottom of the second opening. A first locking pipe positioned adjacent to the third vertical member to locks the rear gate in the closed gate position. | 10-07-2010

Rinsing methodologies for barrier plate and venturi containment systems in tools used to process microelectronic workpieces with one or more treatment fluids, and related apparatuses - Tool for treating microelectronic workpieces with one or more treatment materials, including liquids, gases, fluidized solids, dispersions, combinations of these, and the like. The invention provides an approach for rapid, efficient rinsing of wetted surface(s), and is particularly advantageous when used to rinse the lower surface of moveable barrier structures such as a barrier plate that overlies a workpiece being treated in such a manner to define a tapering flow channel over the workpiece. Rather than spray rinsing liquid onto the surface in a manner that generates undue splashing, droplet, or mist generation, the liquid is flowingly dispensed, preferably under laminar flow conditions, onto a surface that is in fluid communication with the surface to be rinsed. A smooth, uniform wetting and sheeting action results to accomplish rinsing with a significantly reduced risk of generating particle contamination. | 02-12-2009
Tools and methods for processing microelectronic workpieces using process chamber designs that easily transition between open and closed modes of operation - Strategies for tool designs and their uses wherein the tools can operate in either closed or open modes of operation. The tools easily transition between open and closed modes on demand. According to one general strategy, environmentally controlled pathway(s) couple the ambient to one or more process chambers. Air amplification capabilities upstream from the process chamber(s) allow substantial flows of air to be introduced into the process chamber(s) on demand. Alternatively, the fluid pathways are easily closed, such as by simple valve actuation, to block egress to the ambient through these pathways. Alternative flows of nonambient fluids can then be introduced into the process chamber(s) via pathways that are at least partially in common with the pathways used for ambient air introduction. In other strategies, gap(s) between moveable components are sealed at least with flowing gas curtains rather than by relying only upon direct physical contact for sealing. | 11-12-2009
