HEAT EXCHANGERS FOR AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS - In the field of heat exchangers for air conditioning systems there is a need for an improved heat exchanger which provides improved efficiency in terms of overall packaging and performance. A heat exchanger, for use in an air conditioning system of a building, including an elongate fluid conduit which has first and second elongate heat exchange fins extending laterally therefrom. Opposed faces of the first and second fins define an acute angle therebetween. The fluid conduit defines a discrete conduit body, the first fin defines a first fin body, and the second fin defines a second fin body. The conduit body is thermally coupled to at least one of the first and second fin bodies by a discrete heat exchange member. | 04-05-2012

Multi-purpose chair for the disabled - The present invention is directed to a multi-purpose chair for the disabled that can be used as a passive wheelchair designed to be pushed by an individual to transport the occupant in a sitting position. By adjusting the heights of the legs, it will fit over conventional or handicapped commodes. Removing the legs with locking casters and inserting the stationary legs, the device can be used as a conventional chair. Additionally it can used a commode chair/raised toilet seat/safety frame. The device can also be used in a shower or by lifting one of the cantilevered armrests, and attaching the side bench, it can be used beside a bathtub. Covering the seat with the elastic seat-cover, the device can be used to transport individuals in public places without revealing the toileting applications. The novelty is that this all can be easily assembled or disassembled and carried in a FAA dimensionally compliant carrying case. | 10-30-2008
SEAT TILT MECHANISM FOR CHAIRS USED BY PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES - This application provides a mechanism that consists of right and left mounting bases that in different embodiments are adapted for mounting on a variety of different chairs. These mechanisms have roller tracks that have been designed on a radius with the fulcrum or pivot point positioned very close to where the center of mass is located, for a wide spectrum of different sized people from children through over-sized adults, to achieve varying degrees of movement. On the inside of the left and right mounting bases are curved slots that are parallel to the curvature of the roller tracks where guide members on the front and rear mounting brackets keep the seat and back rest from coming off the chair. There are front and rear rollers that traverse within the roller tracks that pivot on axles in the front and rear mounting brackets. In the curved slots on the sides are adjustable stop pins that limit the tilt or travel of the seat and back rest. A rack and spur gear mechanism is incorporated to manually adjust the position of the seat and back rest of the chair by rotating a crank handle. By removing the rack and spur gear mechanism and adjusting the stop pins the device will perform as a rocking chair. Turning a friction locking knob will lock the seat and back into a stationary position. | 10-27-2011

Multi-Pane Dynamic Window and Method For Making Same - A window assembly comprises a plurality of dynamic electrochromic zones formed on a single transparent substrate in which at least two electrochromic zones are independently controllable. In one exemplary embodiment, the window assembly comprises an Insulated Glass Unit (IGU), and at least one transparent substrate comprises a lite. In another exemplary embodiment, the IGU comprises at least two lites in which at least one lite comprises a plurality of independently controllable dynamic zones. | 12-31-2009
Electrical Contact Technique For Electrochromic Windows - A window assembly comprises a first conductive material layer, an electrochromic stack, a second conductive material layer and a seal. The first conductive material layer is formed on a substrate and comprises at least two zones electrically isolated from each other. The electrochromic stack is formed on a first selected zone of the first conductive material layer to overlap an edge of a second selected zone of the first conductive material layer. The second conductive material layer is formed on the electrochromic stack to overlap an edge of the second selected zone. A first bus bar is formed on the second selected zone to be within a sealed volume of the window assembly. A second bus bar is formed on the first selected zone to be outside the seal volume of the window assembly. The seal defines the sealed volume of the window assembly and seals the window assembly. | 03-18-2010
ELECTROCHROMIC DEVICES AND METHODS FOR PATTERNING SUCH DEVICES - Varying the optical absorption of an electrochromic device in situ allows optimal control over the depth and quality of laser patterning lines when patterning electrochromic devices. Accordingly, an electrochromic device comprises a target conductive layer, an absorbing electrochromic layer formed below the target layer, and an electrolyte layer formed below the absorbing electrochromic layer. The absorbing electrochromic layer is placed in a darkened state, and the target layer is laser ablated using a wavelength that is minimally absorbed in the target layer and a fluence level that does not ablate layers of the electrochromic device that are below the absorbing electrochromic layer. The absorbing electrochromic layer is placed in the darkened state by applying a predetermined control voltage to the electrochromic device, forming the electrochromic device by dark-state deposition, or forming an electrochromic device that is in its darkened state in an equilibrium state. | 07-01-2010

CLAMP HEAD - The present invention provides clamp head comprising an arched body having upper and lower faces, a vertex and opposing unequal length arms. The body is further provided with a through aperture for a bolt or like threaded fastener which extends between the upper and lower faces in the region of the vertex. The aperture in the upper face is oval and tapers outwardly through the body in the direction of the lower face. The arms comprise a reaction arm having at its distal end a reaction face and a clamping arm having at its distal end a clamping face, the reaction and clamping faces being provided with respective formations. The formations of the reaction arm extend in a direction which is substantially transverse to the direction of the formations of the clamping arm. | 02-26-2009

Project Management Tool - A project management system comprises a means for storing each of a plurality of process definitions, a plurality of phase definitions, a plurality of task definitions, an association between each task definition and a selected process definition and a selected phase definition, and task status information associated with each task, and a display means for displaying a two-dimensional grid arrangement in which a first dimension is subdivided according to process definitions and a second dimension is subdivided according to phase definitions, thereby to define a plurality of cells at the intersection of the two dimensions, a plurality of the cells thus defined therefore representing tasks, in respect of which task status information is displayed.; A means for storing user identities and user rights associated with the user identities will allow the display means to be adapted to limit the display according to the user rights, either by withholding information relating to processes and/or phases not defined in the user rights, and/or by aggregating a plurality of cells and displaying a composite task status. This project management system is preferably provided via a suitable computer system, and a software module is arranged to implement this. Further, a project management summary view can comprise a two-dimensional grid arrangement in which a first dimension is subdivided according to processes and a second dimension is subdivided according to phases of work, thereby to define a plurality of cells at the intersection of the two dimensions, a plurality of the cells representing tasks in respect of which task status information is displayed. This project management system is particularly (but not exclusively) useful in the design of an engineered item. The proper oversight of the project permitted by the invention allows a more optimal design to be arrived at, and can also improve the project timescale and budget. | 12-02-2010
