20100071676RESONATOR AND CRANKCASE VENTILATION SYSTEM FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE - The present invention provides a crankcase ventilation system and resonator for a turbocharged internal combustion engine assembly. The resonator, designed for intake noise reduction, is mounted to the engine. An oil separation unit, designed for passage of blowby gases, is mounted to a cam cover, sandwiched between the resonator and cam cover. The resonator has a resonator body defining a resonator volume therein. The resonator fluidly communicates the oil separation unit with the turbocharger air inlet pipe, whereby blowby gases are evacuated from the cam cover and delivered through the resonator volume for reintroduction to the engine's air intake system. Integration of the blowby passages into the resonator reduces the number of potential leak paths in the air induction system, and reduces overall engine mass, cost, and packaging size. The present design also offers improved On-board Diagnostics (OBD) by allowing only large flow areas to be disconnected.03-25-2010

20110087123METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR AIRWAY COMPENSATION CONTROL - A method for controlling a mechanical ventilator that is supplying medical gas to a patient via an endotracheal tube. A pressure is measured from a patient end of an endotracheal tube. The pressure at the patient end of the endotracheal tube is used to create an improved endotracheal tube resistance model such that the medical gas supplied by the mechanical ventilator may be compensated for the resistance of the endotracheal tube thereby providing increased control over the medical gas that is delivered to the patient's lungs. Additionally, if an obstruction in the patient's airway is detected, the location of the obstruction may be targeted such that the proper remedial treatment or procedure is selected by a clinician.04-14-2011
20120055476Apparatus and Method for Identifying FRC and PEEP Characteristics - A patient ventilator for assisting a clinician in determining a suitable PEEP for the patient. The amount of the lung volume recruited/de-recruited at various levels of PEEP may be determined for use in selecting a desired PEEP. To this end, the functional residual capacity of the lungs is determined for a first PEEP level. The PEEP is then altered to a second level and a spirometry dynostatic curve of lung volume and pressure data is obtained. The lung volume on the dynostatic curve at a lung pressure corresponding to the first PEEP value is obtained. The difference between the functional residual capacity of the lungs at the first PEEP level and that determined from the dynostatic curve represents the lung volume recruited/de-recruited when changing between said first and second PEEPs.03-08-2012

20100206393FUEL DISPENSER SUMP - A sump for a fuel dispenser which allows wiring to pass from beneath the ground vertically upwards through the footprint of the fuel dispenser without compromising a wall of the sump and without providing access to the ground positioned beneath the footprint of the fuel dispenser for a fluid contained within the fuel dispenser, including fuel leaks from the piping contained within the dispenser. In an exemplary embodiment, a sump frame is provided which mates with an open upper portion of the sump which provides access to the sump. The portion of the frame extending over the opening to the sump is generally open, allowing passage of fluids from within the fuel dispenser to the sump. The sump frame further includes a conduit entry frame adapter which extends beyond the perimeter of the sump, but which is positioned within the footprint of the fuel dispenser. A wiring conduit is formed in the conduit entry frame adapter so that wiring may be passed from beneath the footprint of the fuel dispenser vertically upward into the fuel dispenser, without compromising a wall forming the sump. Fluid within the fuel dispenser will fall downwardly either into the sump opening or into contact with the conduit entry frame adapter. In one exemplary embodiment, the conduit entry frame adapter is sloped downwardly toward the sump opening so that fluid contacting the conduit entry frame adapter will flow via gravity into the sump.08-19-2010
